Low pressure will cross the UK tonight and in to tomorrow. Met office are saying 60mph+ winds and heavy rain potential. #StormFrancis

Looking at forecast for where I am (Cairngorms National Park) Tuesday afternoon could be very wet. How is the forecast looking for your location? Are you feeling the storm yet?

It's looking very wet and windy Tuesday and Wednesday where I am in West Yorkshire. Pretty apprehensive, as our roof is due to be replaced next month . Fingers crossed it holds!

SingingSands · 24/08/2020 16:08

I'm in West Yorkshire today and it's lovely. Tomorrow it all goes downhill! We have a leak on our front bay window so I guess I'll be watching that closely tomorrow.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 24/08/2020 16:12

We are in Essex on our boat in a marina. Nice sail down here today although wind was very up and down.

We are forecast force 9 gales and heavy rain here tomorrow so staying put for a few days!

We have cards, Rummikub and Scrabble plus some stuff to watch on the I pad!

Inextremis · 24/08/2020 16:13

West coast of Ireland here. The day started hot and sunny, then we had cloud, no wind, but warm this afternoon, and now it's getting darker, still no wind but heavier cloud, with high winds and huge amounts of rain forecast for overnight and into tomorrow.

GloriaSmud · 24/08/2020 16:16

Metoffice warnings for tomorrow and Wednesday.

It looks like rain will arrive first and push through fairly quickly for the midlands/southern England and strong winds will follow not long after that. For northern England, the rain arrives and then stays together with the strong winds. So it looks like a windy and wet day there.

Looks like autumn has arrived.

OublietteBravo · 24/08/2020 16:19

Berwick-upon-Tweed. It rained this morning and has been drizzling all afternoon. Definitely looking wet tomorrow, although I don’t think it’s meant to be especially windy.

Cineraria · 24/08/2020 18:32

It's absolutely tipping it down in South London right now and very dark. It's not at all windy though. It seems odd to think we all had lunch outside earlier as it was so sunny.

I am currently washing my fifth load of laundry today, so the entire house will be draped with wet, slowly drying clothes, nappies and bed linen for the duration of the storm! I'm hoping there will be a slight gap before it gets dark so I can bring a few things in from the garden.

Dry and still here tonight... lull before the storm.

All calm, quiet and dry here in Fife. But this is a screenshot of the wind map which shows what's coming. 😨

We've had a beautiful sunny day here in the far NW of England. Hard to believe there's a storm on the way. Forecast says its going to be wet and windy from around 4am to early evening tomorrow but to be honest the windspeeds we're predicted aren't particularly bad - 30mph gusting 40s. We've had loads of days like that over the last few years so it doesn't sound too bad or anything too much out of the ordinary for us. It sounds like other parts of the country are going to be worse affected but hopefully its at least going to be fairly short lived for most. DS has a bike race tomorrow and as yet its not been cancelled as the local forecast says it should clear up about an hour before the start. I'm not sure I trust the forecast to be that accurate to be honest, but we shall see!

BlackeyedSusan · 25/08/2020 03:07

W mids just started raining here.

Covidisdrivingmecrazy · 25/08/2020 04:36

In a tent in Hampshire that's some rain

ElizabethMainwaring · 25/08/2020 04:45

Derbyshire. Chucking it down. No wind yet.

PearsMorgan · 25/08/2020 05:09

Hello @Covidisdrivingmecrazy I’m also in a tent in Hampshire! Waiting for it to get light so I can pack up and go home...

BillStickersIsInnocent · 25/08/2020 05:17

Somerset. Getting windy now. Yesterday was odd - really warm, some bright spells and then really heavy localised rain which felt like a bucket of water being dumped out.

Covidisdrivingmecrazy · 25/08/2020 05:25

@PearsMorgan Are you the solitary other tent left on our campsite ? ;)

PearsMorgan · 25/08/2020 05:31

Haha no it’s still full (tiny site). Children are sleeping like angels and will be so disappointed when I break the news Hmm

TwoZeroTwoZero · 25/08/2020 05:31

Yorkshire: it's just started raining here and we're due for some strong wind later in the day. Thunder and lightning tomorrow aft according to the weather map too.

Bexily · 25/08/2020 05:35

In Torbay in a static, DS woke up at 3am after a nightmare. Managed to get him back to sleep but can't get back to sleep myself because the noise of the wind and rain. We're on top of a hill and when the wind gusts it shakes the caravan. I really feel for the people who are in the camping field!

grannycake · 25/08/2020 05:39

Pouring with rain here on Gower - not as much wind as forecast though

catwithflowers · 25/08/2020 06:16

Northumberland, thankfully at home not in a tent or caravan 🙈. Rain started 10 minutes ago and wind getting up. Our poor garden was battered by high winds on Friday and looks like more of the same today!

EasilyDelighted · 25/08/2020 06:45

We had some torrential bit very localised downpours in Hampshire (not coastal) yesterday - about 6pm I had to go out, there was a very heavy downpour, lots of standing water on the dual carriageway but completely dry a few miles down the road. Raining fairly heavily again this morning but not windy yet.

nannynick · 25/08/2020 07:26

In a tent in heavy rain does not sound like fun.
Still dry here. Expecting it to start around 11am. So morning dog walk and then batten down the hatches.
