US Hurricane season

It seems to be starting to get going properly now with the first major storm of the season.
Florence is now a Cat 4 and is heading for the Carolinas.

I have lived in Florida for more than 40 years and on the coast of Georgia before that. We have evacuated every time it was mandated. Now, for the first time many of us in Florida will be housing evacuees.

You become so tired and frightened - and that's just the wind. It doesn't STOP. (At least not in normal timeframes.)

We are now in the extreme risk area for flooding at the weekend. Feeling rather nervous now.

No. Thank Goodness. I really feel for those MNers who are thereabouts, though.

It's getting windy here and the atmosphere feels very strange. I have a tight knot in my stomach as the forecasts keep getting worse. We are expecting eight months' worth of rain to fall at the weekend. It's over 20 years since I last smoked a cigarette and I just said to DH that if someone was to offer me one now I'd take it.
