Thought I'd kick off a bright and shiny weather thread to see us through the second half of the winter. Albeit a winter with daffodils and blossom Shock.

All I can say is that I've just been down to the bins and it seems chiller than it has been >

Indeed, the rain is never ending. It's just wasted precipitation if it's not snow!

GloriaSmud · 10/01/2016 19:40

There might be a chance of something wintry for you this week, Perihelion ~ very cold week ahead.

MegGriffin · 11/01/2016 08:39

I would love some snow this week, even one day would be something. It's so annoying it can rain heavily for days but can't even squeeze out a snow flurry.

BiddyPop · 11/01/2016 10:32

We had torrential rain on Saturday evening (from about 4pm when the clouds just OPENED and it bounced off the pavements), until middle of the night sometime (DD couldn't sleep in the attic due to noise, and she is normally ok with rain - it was still raining at 1am but ground had dried off where no standing water by 8.30 am).

Yesterday, it was cold but dry and bright. The mountains through the country had changed overnight as well - DH travelled the road between Cork and Dublin both directions on Sat and Sun, only Galteemore was covered Sat but all the mountains had a high level covering on Sunday.

Today, was the first frost clearing morning of the season for the car. It is cold (started at 1 degree at 7.30am, but increased to 3 degrees by (7.40 and moving downhill to the sea) but again dry and bright. Much needed respite. Can see snow on the hills from my office, but all at the top.

It will be cold standing on the pitch sidelines for hockey this afternoon tho...

Aye Gloria wintry but fucking sunny or cloudy. Not snowy Angry.....but at least not rainy.
Think my weather station has got too wet....it's currently showing 11.8C...it's not.

GloriaSmud · 12/01/2016 16:50

Looks like there's a chance of something wintry/sleety for everyone in the next few days but this weekend (Sunday/Monday) is showing signs of something possibly a bit more substantial when it comes to snow.
You could be lucky, Perihelion and get loads of the stuff!

seasidesally · 12/01/2016 16:56

would it be worth starting a new thread about the cold/snow

MagpieCursedTea · 12/01/2016 17:00

We had some hail today, made a change from the rain.

GloriaSmud · 12/01/2016 17:25

seasidesally might be worth waiting until we get a bit nearer to the weekend. I'm only going by one GFS run at the moment and the metoffice/the other models aren't really going for it much at the moment.

magpie we also had something a bit more wintry today ~ sleety stuff. Temperature dropped 1C in the space of 10 minutes. Shock

29PaddingtonSt · 12/01/2016 20:56

Just driven home in alternate rain/sleet/snow. Really hoping it doesn't turn fully to snow as the temperature drops.

GloriaSmud · 13/01/2016 10:08

The metoffice have issued some snow/ice weather warnings for today and tomorrow, including an amber warning for snow in some areas of Scotland, so as seasidesally suggested yesterday, thought now might be the right time to have a new thread.
