Will the heat end quickly?

I dislike the heat and see most of next week is forecast to be in the high 20s, and possibly higher. Really uncomfortable. Can anyone advise when the south west/Bristol area will feel more comfortable? Thanks.

SE.
This morning is lightly overcast so no sun and already 17 degrees at 7am.
BUT NO BREEZE.
Hoping it will emerge when the clouds breaks up later Hmm
Yesterday had a cool breeze at 8am which stayed all day, thankfully.
Why has it disappeared again todayConfused

Bunbaker · 28/06/2015 09:00

We have 19 degrees forecast today, so not hot here.

GemmaTeller · 28/06/2015 09:12

Just checked the forecast for Warrington

20 degrees Monday, 27 on Tuesday, 29 on Wednesday

Bring.It.On

(I work from home so usually get up earlier to get everything done, get to the post office by 12 then spend all afternoon in the garden)

DH knows the rules - if its cracking the flags I'm outside in it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2015 09:53

I'm putting forecasts on this thread :)

Cheesymonster · 28/06/2015 10:35

Pouring down here in the East Midlands and has been for the last hour or so. Good for the garden!

meglet · 28/06/2015 11:25

mark my words. it'll be cool again by the weekend. We've got a day out planned Hmm .

digerd · 28/06/2015 12:08

SE.
Well, the sky didn't clear, no sun, no breeze instead DRIZZLE showers which got heavier.

But was comfortable enough to get some weeding done.
20.8 outside atm so much cooler than it has been.

SophieJenkins · 28/06/2015 12:19

My children seem to slump in the heat. I don't particularly like it, not if we haven't got a choice of how to adapt.

What I mean is I enjoy all kinds of weather if we can be prepared and adapt to the conditions.

Rain is easy - waterproof house and clothes! snow, again easy-ish if you aren't isolated. Schools tend to close anyway.

Heat - school doesn't close, children are taught outside sometimes without shade (yes, we had this last week - how stupid? for a maths lesson?) all day sun cream doesn't last all day, children can't apply it themselves and so they come back slightly sunburned if we're unlucky.

I don't like not having the option of a day off when it is extremely hot - people where it is often like that take a siesta and close business for a few hours. Here we just have to stuff it.

BTW the number of sunburned adults I saw yesterday was shocking.

Bunbaker · 28/06/2015 12:35

"BTW the number of sunburned adults I saw yesterday was shocking."

There have been several threads about this. It isn't that difficult to avoid the sun in this country - stay indoors, wear loose clothing with long sleeves, wear high SPF sunblock, wear a hat etc, that I agree that it is shocking that so many adults get sunburn.

SophieJenkins · 28/06/2015 13:05

I know. It was in Sainsburys...very quiet for a Sat afternoon, I expect people were out in the sun.

There were just loads of people bright red. Normal, educated looking people!

I often find the sun feels too hot on my skin so I go indoors or into the shade.

I don't know if I would be able to do that if I were more sociable - you can't do that at a party for instance, if everyone else is in the sun. I think I am lucky to be able to follow my instincts.

Very odd! In the last 2 hours a cool breeze has sprung up and the air definitely chillier.
Makes me think the heatwave will be offHmm

Going out in the garden to finish my bedding plant planting while it is cool, just in case.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 28/06/2015 17:55

It's not supposed to get going yet - it'll start heating up on Tuesday (I'm
in NW & tomorrow will be eve cooler than today. It's beautiful here ATM with a lovely southerly breeze Smile

I shall know more at 8am when I take the dog out, but the air this morning felt distinctly cool but sun warming it up.
Don't mind the high temperature but cannot cope with close, humid air.

My favourite 30 degrees was in Gran Canaria in Dec-Jan and Santorini in August when the breeze arrived. Without the breeze it was purgatory in 40 degrees.

Friends were in El Paso -desert dry air- and loved their 40 degrees.

HorsesDogsNails · 29/06/2015 08:08

I'm a mobile nail technician so heat is not good for me!! I have products that are temperature sensitive and I drive my car to each appointment..... Then I go home to a house that has been shut up all day - this week will not be much fun really!! It's alright if you can just sit at home out in the garden and keep cooler but most of us have to do our usual stuff and it all is just that bit trickier in temperatures we're not used to....

digerd · 29/06/2015 10:18

Certainly not humid yet.

Just been outside to do some gardening and is quite eerie as the sun looks and feels like OCTOBER timeConfused

RepeatAdNauseum · 29/06/2015 10:23

I don't think it's surprising that people get sunburnt...

I had factor 50 on on Saturday. I sat in the garden for an hour, playing with some two-year-olds.

When I came in, my shoulders and chest were bright red. They didn't tingle or anything, I didn't feel them burn. They don't hurt to touch now, and I can wear clothes over it, but it looks sunburnt.

I was in a shady area, there was wind, I have no idea how I've managed to burn myself. I have, though. I'd rather not get judged for that!

SophieJenkins · 29/06/2015 13:09

Gosh not judging. I felt sorry for them - we can all get caught out.

It's just there seemed to be so many of them and it surprised me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/06/2015 14:34

Lovely here today. 24C, slight breeze, 54% humidity. Perfect!

digerd · 30/06/2015 06:58

Yesterday was lovely until 2pm and then the breeze disappeared and the air became stuffy but not really hot.

Today atm is as expected gorgeously sunny and fresh-wonder how long the latter will last?

I expect that our 2pm dog walk will be out of the question but keeping fingers crossed for a cooling breeze to spring up.

GemmaTeller · 30/06/2015 15:03

26 degrees in Warrington, not a cloud in the sky.

Its absolutely baking in the front garden and the game old man next door has got his chainsaw out cutting a tree down, pheww!

lavendersun · 30/06/2015 15:40

Norfolk - 29 degrees registered in the car when moving at 60mph, v hot.
