that low pressure I've been talking about finally arrives on our shores this afternoon. The met office have issued warnings for the SW and Wales where unfortunately once again very heavy rain could lead to significant flooding potential. However I dont think anywhere will escape the heavy rain over the next couple of days and unfortunately it is possible I think that parts of the NW and also perhaps southern coastal counties will also end up with warnings.

Dont forget to check the environment agency if you live in a flood prone area.

Oybbk, how bad do you think it will be in the north on Saturday? Dp is doing the Yorkshore Three Peaks Challenge........

Whatevertheweather · 14/06/2012 07:53

How is it looking for Saturday in south Hampshire (nr Portsmouth) OYBBK? My best friend is getting married - the theme for the reception is 'English Garden Party' Eek!!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 07:57

I think that it could be quite rough tbh. mountain weather information service do an excellent hill forecast. Pretty windy and wet I'm afraid.

Also a wind heads up in the south where gusts could once again be 50mph+. With saturated ground and trees in full leaf, this increased the chance of trees coming down.

WEW - sunshine and heavy showers looks most likely but wind gusts perhaps as high as 50mph.

Thanks OYBBK hope the marquee will be able to stand up to it!

GobbleLeKnob · 14/06/2012 09:22

Thank you very much for the link Oybbk, I will bookmark and monitor. I don't think anything would stop them doing it to be honest, I will be glad when they are back.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 12:45

I hope they manage ok gobble.

So do I Oybbk, I suppose I should be grateful that dp's mid-life crisis seems be taking the form of taking on various physical challenges rather than a fast car and a bimboGrin I am just a massive worrier though.

BramblyHedge · 14/06/2012 16:12

Hmm...school fete with marquee on Saturday ... Not looking promising!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 18:44

I'd better go and deal with the trampoline. Last time it flew across the lawn and ended up in mangled pieces. We've only just fixed it.

Hurrah for summer!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 18:54

splendid idea virgil!

possibility of thunderstorms associated with this tomorrow and perhaps even tornadoes

Ooh, that'll be fun for the kids doing the chemistry exam tomorrow afternoon!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 14/06/2012 19:06

I don't mind so much. I've taken the 'cold turkey' approach to potty training DS and I'm dreading leaving the house :)

Plus, it's been ages since we had a good thunder storm. It's got a bit dark here over the last couple of hours and the wind is up now.

As long as me broadband stays I'll be happy :)

Good luck to those that actually have to leave the house though.

hugglymugly · 14/06/2012 19:15

The Daily Mail website has a NASA image of the weather system, but I can't find that on the NASA website. I like this site for a satellite view of cloud cover: www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html. It's a bit scary to see it develop from just a wodge (technical term!) of cloud into something more organised.

GloriaSmud · 14/06/2012 20:15

Rain started here about an hour ago. We've had quite a windy day here but the wind's dropped completely now.

huggly ~ I'm liking 'wodge of cloud'. I think the weather people should use it!

mankyscotslass · 14/06/2012 20:21

It's been lovely here today - sunshine and light clouds.

It's gone grey now, and the wind is picking up.

Dh is away with work, and has to drive back from south Derbyshire tomorrow -eeek.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 20:29

It is a rather photogenic low Grin gloomy and damp down here.

Is there any update on East Anglia? Ive got to work a market stall under a Gazebo for the next two days! Id rather not get soaked or blown away! Sad

SoozyWoozy · 14/06/2012 21:02

So, West Sussex has had a changeable day! Started warm-ish / sunny, gradually getting windier, colder and is now raining again. Very similar pattern to Sunday.

I never knew I was so interested in the weather :o I am turning into my dad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 21:59

Gusty strong winds saggy, with heavy showers but hopefully some dry interludes too. You may need to think about how to stop things blowing around!

OP posts:
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/06/2012 22:03

I've got two 56lb weights, but when the wind gets up under the commercial gazebo, they don't do much! And I have to decide wether to put the sides on and stay dry, or not catch the wind and blow away! Sad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 14/06/2012 22:17

Ok, if it were me ( and I accept no liability for this in case it's a rubbish suggestion!!) I'd put the sides up tomorrow, when it looks wettest, but not have them on for Saturday as it looks a fair bit windier then.

Good luck!
