Weaning and drinks for breast fed baby

DD2 is 6.5 months and we have been weaning for a few weeks. I have been trying her with various beakers and water/diluted juice but she doesn't drink a bottle and is only getting used to the idea so hasn't been taking in very much. She is slightly constipated the last couple of days. Should I be trying to get more fluids into her or is the breastfeeding enough until she gets the hang of the beakers?
Anything recommended to help the constipation? It isn't too bad. I think it is just a big change for her from the very liquid breastmilk only poo.

Thanks

Try offering foods like apricots and prunes for constipation. Is she in pain or are her poos just becoming firmer? Because if it's the latter, that's normal and nothing to worry about.

Breast milk is fine as it changes its consistency and becomes more watery when they need a drink I'd also stick to water for now - fruit juice, even diluted, has sugars in it which can fill them up without being nutritious. Also it will be cheaper/easier for you to give her water for as long as humanly possible! I just offered my DS the beaker periodically until he got the hang of it, if he wasn't bothered I put it away for a few weeks.

Suiledonn have you tried a http://www.bickiepegs.co.uk/acatalog/Doidy_Cup.html Doidy cup? M has taken really well to this, although he does take a bottle as well. Apparently the Doidy cup is good for BF babies. HTH!

Doidy cup we used one of these as well at 6 months with great success

My dd (8 months) was the same suiledonn. As far as I know they get all the hydration they need from your breast milk. And dd's poo's started to become more solid at that age.

She went straight from boob to a nuby cup at about 5 months(skipping bottles entirely).

She struggled to get much water from the cup at first but now she guzzles like a good'un!

She also drinks from my water bottles when we're out and about and rarely spills any at all!
