Surely it's baby seems ready for food, try them on this and that and before you know it they are joining in with your meals.

Oh and mine started on puree, then progessed to finger food then 'normal' meals. And now believe it or not they eat just like little human beings - curry and everything, never had to cook a different 'baby' meals for them.

And I weaned my first 2 from 17 weeks (the old guidelines) shock horror

Perlease, life is busy enough without 'my DC played with a bit of brocolli today he is doing so well on the feeding'

Just to clarify - am I now not supposed to give my DC a spoon or something for fear of hindering them in later life?

eeeeeeeuuuw.

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:21

to both of you.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 22:25

Ooooh giantkates, I like it that you called it 'tapas style lunch', it makes it sound much better than what I do.

Usually it is more like:

'oh no, it's 2:30pm and DS still hasn't had any lunch yet and is getting stroppy, - what do I have that is quick? Right, some protien, check, some veg/fruit, check, some carbs, - phew!'

Are they not at risk of inhaling sweetcorn or peas?

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:27

no, they just won't be able to pick them up until 8 or so months.
are you ignoring me, starlight?

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 22:29

Did somebody say something?

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:30
6inchnipples · 10/03/2009 22:30

what if they pick it up when its stuck to a bit of pasta with melted cheese?????

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 22:32

Sorry

Thank you Aitch

I used to have a healthy diet pre-kids you know, --- really don't know what happened!

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:34

i'mgoing to have to wean dd2 soon, know it means looking at where our diet has got a bit shit... cannot be arsed, am hoping she sticks to milk for the next few months...

6inchnipples · 10/03/2009 22:35

starlight you were on the sep antenatal thread at the same time as me (minkersmum), your lo must be about the same age as mine.

Nice to see names you recognise

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 22:45

LOL Aitch, - that is EXACTLY how I feel. (Do things get more complicated with a prem?)

Now that I've made it to 6months bfing I kind of feel the pressure is off and so am enjoying it more. The very last thing I want to do is set myself up with another 'chore'!

6inch Yes I remember. I've kept my name for a while this time. I'm tempted to change it sometimes when I have a bad MN run or say something stupid, but so far I've got over the times when I've felt the whole of MN hates me , so have managed to stick it out. Can you believe we are here at 6 months already?

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:52

not sure, some say to do it at 6 mos corrected, some say 6 mos. i've let her have a shot at some ceery, she hasn't a clue. gets it to her moth, gums and drops. it'll be a while yet. longer thebetter imo.

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:53

celery.

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 22:53

mouth. typing l-handed

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 22:57

I guess that is one of the good things about BLW, it doesn't really matter about guidelines, your lo eats when they are ready! And if you are in a hurry to introduce them to food, then you can do, and just allow them to play with it and sniff it or whatever!

Ahhh, celery. Isn't that supposed to have natural anaesthetic stuff in it, - for the gums?

Does it make your tongue go numb? It does mine!

AitchTwoOh · 10/03/2009 23:01

me too! that's why i let her have it.
