computer says yes!!

OK to give seafood to babies over 6mo (www.eatwell.gov.uk/healthydiet/nutritionessentials/fishandshellfish/?view=printerfriendly#ca t232547 link at bottom of page]]. Just be wary of uncooked.

madamez · 03/02/2008 01:01

Well I fed DS a puree of broccoli, peas and onion when he was about 7 months and he ate the lot and still loves broccoli But he is 3 now and I have still not let him have iether prawns or peanuts.

talktothebees · 03/02/2008 01:02

oh arse

proper link

pankhurst · 03/02/2008 01:02

water only.

in a sippy cup.

moving on to a proper cup before the age of ?one year.

unless you were referring to vodka and tonic. in which case, large, with a straw and an unbrella. and ice.

robinredbreast · 03/02/2008 01:06

is this your first baby too? thanks for the link yes its a great website isnt it.

thanks for the info about the salt, ill make sure dd doesnt have too much, shes only really had fruit, veg, lemon sole, salmon and beef casserole so far

im just thinking more of what can i give dd that we already eat iyswim?
think what ill do with the chicken is just give dd a bit of the chickn with some of the potatoes and veg the 1st time then maybe a little sauce next time
think ill hold off the chorizo and prawns till shes 1 perhaps, unless she nicks some of the plate or something

how did your dd find it the 1st time you gave her food ?how are you enjoying motherhood?

also my first baby and my mum thought I was dicing with death by refusing to puree anything.

DD eats anything tbh. i think you'd be fine with cooked prawns tbh. i'll be experimenting with those this week

breakfast - porridge or weetabix or toast (maybe with peanut butter or hummus]] plus some fruit

latest hits for dinner and tea have been steamed asparagus with scrambled egg, egg or tuna mayo sandwiches, lentil soup, cauliflower cheese (made with a ready-made for babies heinz cheese sauce] tinned sardines on toast, potato wedges. She's even had a bit of steak cooked rare!

You're right to try to give your DD the same meals as you as far as possible.

I've seen you on other threads and you seem like you really love being a mum

robinredbreast · 03/02/2008 09:51

morning

talktothebees, lol what threads have you seen me on, yeah im loving being a mummy best thing in the world imo

what does your mum make of blw?
asparagus scrambled egg sounds lovely
sounds like weaning is going great for you guys

well i didnt dream of food last night, but dd nipped me for the first time this am when she was having her 1st bf of the day

how does your dd get on with toast, does she actually eat it or just sort of suck it?

yes to prawms according to the foods standards agency. I gave prawns to both my kids btw 6-12 months.

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 14:21

lol my two-year-old is just about to eat a big bowlful of chorizo and chickpea stew for her dinner, but i think i waited until she was a bit older before giving it to her. the salt thing is particularly important before the age of one, but also (imho) not something worth getting one's knickers in an enormous twist about if you know that all she's eaten the rest of the day is pear and carrot and broccoli. bread's a bugger, though.
and yes to the prawns, i think lapin's boy was weaned almost entirely on them. obviously you have to be SCRUPULOUS about freshness etc.
