DD (5y) adores mussels. he loves to sit with a big bowl of them, using an empty shell as her tool for removing the next mussels.

What suprises me with DD is how open she is to trying new things. She will give anything a go at least once. So she has tried lots of different foods such as oysters, snails and alligator.

My ds (18mo) cried his head off the other day because he didn't want to wait for the carrots I had just cooked to cool down enough for him to eat them!!!

He also loves broccoli, peas and sweetcorn but will spit chocolate cake out with a ewwww expression on his face!

Of course I do know that it won't be long before he is refusing to eat anything remotely healthy.

my ds1 who is 8 also adores mussels and he too, uses his empty shell as a tool! he has been eating them for yrs and when he was much younger mant people would comment in restaurants if he had them.

he loves all fish and often has fresh oysters too. the man on the fish counter in Asda got to know him!

The sluglet constantly amazed us with what she'll eat. Basically she'll give anything a go once.

It all started the day she was cruising around the side table. She whipped a slice of lime out of DH's G&T and chowed down upon it. I've seen her eat 90 day old Gorgonzola, cheese so strong it brought tears to grown men's eyes, coffee grounds (yum, that was a fun and very active afternoon)gherkins, chorizo and raw garlic. Her favourite party trick as a toddler was to get hold of a pot of garlic stuffed olives, remove the garlic and eat it first, then polish off the olives.

It makes it extremely useful when it comes to eating out. Madam has never eaten off a child's menu. On the down side, she has really expensive tastes. She loved pate unitl she discovered fois gras.

Brocolli, sprouts (she'll eat hers then steal from other people's plates), anything green basically.

capers

balsamic vinegar
DP had splashed out on some, and DS was taking an interest as we were tasting it.
i put some on his rye crackers, he tried it, screwed his face up, then scoffed the lot, and then said "gohh", which means "gizzit".
He also likes humous and tabouleh
i'm gonna try him on some strong goat's cheese soon, as he's 14 months now, so i feel it's a rite o' passage.

dd (7mo0 ate half a mince pie the other day which surprised me. Bit lame compared to all the others tho!
