the h/v says I should be watching his puddings so as he doens't get too fat - boy doesn't look overly fat - bit of chubbyness, but nothing i'm bothered about overly (esp as he'll prob run most of it off once hes walking) he's crawling well. a typical day for us is:

breakfast (heniz variety or readybrek (gonna try) have also given half slice of brown toast as well as he seemed to want a little more. (also 1 BF)
snack is normally about 2/3oz of formula- if I'm lucky it's 3. and either a rice cake thingy or bread stick.

lunch is the equivalent of those 7 month jars and a pudding - either a yoghurt or those fruit pot.

snack - per morning snack, evening tea same again but differnt pudding - if has a yog at lunch has fruit in the afternoon iycwim.

sometimes I give him one of those biscotti/cow and gate buscuits as a snack.

mainly i'm wondering what else I can give him as a snack and what other puddings I can do besides fresh fruit yoghurts and the fruit pots.

he normally has water with his lunch and tea.

I've got some of those suger snap peas, fine beans and baby corn thingys - wasn't sure if any of those are suitable yet or not as snacks I mean.

as I say not overly worried too much juct don't want him to keep going up and up iycwim. he's currently slightly above the 75th centile.

(ooh and bedtime is a BF) i've finally just about got him going thru as well so don't really want to mess with things too mcuh just after reassurance I guess.

Another attack of the Bad HV!!!
Is similar to my dd weight/age, she's not fat either just long
a pudding i do for her is to wash/peel/chop 2dessert apples and 2pears and stew in a little water until they're softened. i freeze little portions until needed
Don't worry HV's are bad people and deserve
have some((hugs)), and a virtual KitKat!!!

hi munz,
dd is only having finger foods but at 19 months i still wouldn't give her bits of raw apple as it's one of the few things she's ever choked on. i do now give her a whole apple with a bite out of it as she can then scrape away at the open surface and grate the apple herself, but i'd be wary of giving her anything but the thinnest slices. she also loves green beans to eat when she's out, so you could try them along with the other suggestions.
he is really deeply handsome, by the way, and doesn't look 'overweight' (whatever that is with a baby) to me.

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 11/10/2006 12:43

munz he is a darling and so not fat!!!!!!! don't worry, seriously just ignore the bloody hv.

Munz · 11/10/2006 12:47

taken him off now for my future husband!

I didn't think he was over weight - just solid and chunky! lol. mil says DH was the same and now he's a skinny little runt so nothing to worry about - damn H/V's!

Mumz - if it makes you feel any better my ds (now aged 4) was 23.9lb at 8 months !!! HV advised to put him on "diet" semi skimmed milk, no puddings etc etc - didn't agree with her and carried on what I was feeding him. He was not fat but "off the chart" and very stocky - solidly built. I carried on with the meals which I thought were right for him - still gave him "treats" but not sweets - he still had his puddings, and ff milk etc etc. Now aged 4 he is still stocky, very tall for his age) but is no way overweight or fat. Whilst he was a baby he did look like a little buddha !! but he grew upwards and started to "thin" out. Growth spurts and wonderful things!!! Just keep going the way you are - let him have his treats and puddings - he is still a young baby, if he is hungry he will eat and he WILL even out eventually !!! Also ignore any comments you get like "oooh, isn't he BIG, oh my goodness, what do you feed him on?! etc etc. Stick by your guns!

Haven't read all of thread, but my ds was about 16 pounds at 16 weeks, and my friend's dd is currently 22 pounds at 22 weeks! She's enormous, but happy and healthy. Am sure you're doing fine, just carry on! Incidentally, my dd is 13mo, she NEVER stops eating, she'll have a go at everyone's tea, yet she was just over 18 pounds at 12m. I could not feed her more. Think his "menu" sounds lovely
