oh no it says from four months..should we tell them?
Cant believe I looked at link!!

bobbybob · 21/11/2005 07:22

I have emailed them and will post any response here.

Am I out of date - I know that the current guidance for health professionals is not to advise weaning after 6 months, but the food regulations still state that baby foods must be labelled with an appropriate minimum age not less than 4 months. They do have to state whether gluten is present for foods suitable for those under 6 months, but that is on their packaging rather than the website.

chipmonkey · 21/11/2005 10:46

Thought the 4 months was a bit odd tbh, even when weaning was recommended from 4 months, you surely wouldn't have given pasta at that age!

My DTs were 2 months premature, and I was advised by both my HV and a paediatrcian to wean them from 4 months.

chipmonkey · 21/11/2005 10:55

waterfalls, 4 months corrected or 4 months from birth? Ds3 was 8 weeks prem and I was advised to wean him at 6 months from his birth date.

so have u had a reply?

MerlinsBeard · 21/11/2005 13:08

they sell baby pasta in tesco (fomr 6 months)

chipmonkey · 21/11/2005 13:24

mumofmonsters, I'm in Ireland and I can't find it in my local Tescos. Nor do they do soup pasta. I got some vermicelli in a local health food shop but even though its very small, ds still gags a bit on it. Is it called "baby pasta" or does it go under a different name?

Absolutely nothing at all. Maybe some more people might make the difference.

bobbybob · 22/11/2005 17:52

Dear xxxxx
I do hope that our website has not offended you
The reason we mention using Plasmon products from 4 months as this is the age indicated on some of the boxes - for example the rice I am a mother of 2 children and I do know the importance of when to start weaning Plasmon is a well known Italian brand of baby food - which is mainly sold in the chemists - and I am sure that they would not go against any children guidelines. I will take into consideartion your comments and keep them in mind when updating our site at the beginning of next year. Yours sincerely Gabriella Crothers

chipmonkey · 22/11/2005 20:30

Probably weaning is earlier in Italy.

If you want cheap baby pasta and live in the london area try a portuguese grocery store like lisboa delicatessen etc. They sell packs of baby pasta shaped like stars or the letter of the alphabet really cheap. I went to their chelsea store last week and each pack was only 28p ...

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2005 21:03

Mapleleaf, please tell me you are not a Canuck. Damn, do we have to be that predictable?

cod · 22/11/2005 21:06

NotQuiteCockney · 22/11/2005 21:36

cod, how would you feel, if you moved abroad, and ran into lots of brits who walked around wearing bowler hats, drinking tea and saying "oh, pity" all the time?

Those bloody Canadians with their knapsacks with maple leafs on them. Gah. Does your husband share my distaste for them?

chipmonkey · 23/11/2005 01:45

I have no doubt that if I lived in the London area I would be able to get all sorts of pasta. As I live in the Meath area I am somewhat limited.

chipmonkey · 23/11/2005 01:57

Waiting for the washing machine to finish, so I can put ds2's school uniform in the dryer! Think it's done now so nighty-night!

alux · 23/11/2005 02:00

nighty night. finished too. dd has upped her daytime intake so still getting broken nights, me.

NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2005 07:38

I gave in and searched for stuff by mapleleaf - she appears to be Portugese. Why is she masquerading as a Canadian then? Weird. But not annoying, like Canadian calling themselves that.

chipmonkey · 23/11/2005 09:16

NQC, I have maples in my garden and they are turning lovely clolours at the moment. Does that make me Canadian?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 23/11/2005 09:42

No, it only makes you Canadian if you decide to name yourself after them.

Look, someone back home said "there is a Canadian bar in London". So I thought ... what's it going to be called? Oh, the Maple Leaf. And voila! The Maple Leaf. (Only I think it's closed now.)
