Hello,

Has anyone used the Nintendo Switch Ring Fit to exercise and get fit? I would really love to hear about your experiences as I bought one and intend to start using it for my -hopefully- daily exercise.

@PhotoDad My pleasure! I am truly glad that I started the thread. Reading about your enjoyment of the game made me more excited than ever to start using it. I knew I would like it but didn't expect my almost childish delight while I was playing. I felt the same thrill I used to feel while playing video games with my siblings when I was a child/ teenager.
I don't recall if there was any number re difficulty but I do remember choosing moderate I think (not intense) as I was exhausted due to lack of sleep and I have to say it was a good workout even at that level!

Let's keep up the good work!

I really should start using mine. I've had ringfit for 2/3 years.. I've yet to take it out of the box Blush I had all the best intentions Halo

VitVitMe · 11/09/2023 22:00

@PhotoDad I've been using it for a week and I am loving it.
@emotionalpuddle please, just take it out of the box and try it. You won't regret it.

Yay! I was away at the weekend but should be getting back into RingFit tonight. Still so much fun!

PhotoDad · 14/09/2023 19:11

Hey @VitVitMe, how's it going? Support for you here!

The last few nights I got carried away with long sessions and have just finished World 8. Ramped up to difficulty 23 now. Still has that "one more level!" appeal and new mechanics and moves are continuing to appear.

VitVitMe · 14/09/2023 22:02

Hello @PhotoDad! Glad to hear you're still enjoying it.
I've been "playing" it every day since I started except today where it was impossible for me to do it and I really feel bad for breaking my streak.
I left the level of difficulty at 10 for the first week and just started upping it this week. I am now at level 15 I think and will add to it every day until I find the level that will challenge me the most. As I am really short on time I am thinking that upping the level of difficulty to the maximum that I can tolerate will allow me to do the most exercise in the shortest of times. I am not sure if it's a good idea but this is what I intend to do. I think I finished world 6 yesterday.
I am always looking forward to my sessions and I've never been bored while using it. So far, I love everything about it and wish I bought it when it came out.
Onwards and upwards!

Can I ask if it's super easy to do as a total beginner to anything gaming related?

I know what a Nintendo switch looks like but that's it!

PhotoDad · 15/09/2023 05:57

That's amazing, @VitVitMe, I hope that we can keep comparing notes! Increasing the difficulty really has a noticeable effect, doesn't it?

@FrogInTheFog It has a very gentle introduction and gradually adds more complexity, so it's a good for people who don't know much about games.

If you don't already own a Switch I'm not sure whether it would be worth buying one just for RingFit. Also, you would want to avoid the "Switch Lite" which can't be hooked up to a TV.

VitVitMe · 15/09/2023 18:06

@PhotoDad I am on difficulty level 17. Did just over 12 mnts of active time today as I didn't have much time but so far I haven't really felt much difference with the lower levels except that it takes a bit longer to defeat bosses/ enemies. Also, I wish all the unlocked moves/ exercises were available at the same time while "fighting" and not be confined to only the 5 or 6.

But all in all, I have to say it's a very well thought-out game.

@FrogInTheFog

I second what @PhotoDad said about the RingFit.

Here's a link that gives an overview of the game. It's pretty straightforward to use:

@PhotoDad Hi there! How are you doing? I still love it even though I'm not able to do it every day. I'm on difficulty level 23 (I think) and now even my kids love it and play it on the weekend.

PhotoDad · 04/10/2023 18:27

That's amazing! I've had a very heavy cold all week so I've not been pushing things, but I'm hoping to be back at the weekend!! Will update you. We can hold each other accountable...?

savemyears · 04/10/2023 18:40

Ah this is great to read! We're getting a switch for Xmas hopefully and I loved wii fit back in the day. I'll have to add this to my list. My kids are little but never stop moving so might wear them out too!

VitVitMe · 06/10/2023 15:41

@PhotoDad Sorry to hear about your cold; hope you're completely recovered.
I like the idea of accountability but realistically I'll be able to consistently do it only on the weekends even though I can sometimes spare 10-20 mnts max during the week. That said I love it will continue to use it whenever possible. What about your son? Is he still hooked?

@savemyears you won't regret it!

I picked up the ring again tonight for the first time in ages and am hooked all over again! (I was poorly, then I was away, etc.) So, yay!

Unfortunately DS is busy pretty much every evening with school clubs etc and gets home tired, but is still keen to resume (maybe at half-term).

PhotoDad · 12/11/2023 19:21

Reached level 100 today!

Reached level 100 today!

Oh wow! Congratulations!
I must say I am jealous. Are you playing it everyday?

OP posts:
PhotoDad · 14/11/2023 06:39

The game tells me I'm on Day 36. I've had a couple of breaks but otherwise it's most days... I manage about 20 minutes on the timer, which is about 35-40 minutes "real time" when I play. Still enjoying it, and the game gradually reintroduces the moves/attacks you've dropped at a higher level to bring them back into circulation. How are you doing?

VitVitMe · 14/11/2023 07:07

That's really good; keep up the good work. I hope you'll never lose your motivation.

Last time I checked I was in the last level of difficulty but I don't recall which world am in. I've been doing it at least on the week ends but for the last month or so managed to do it once or twice at most. Mainly because I'm too depressed and shocked at what's happening in Gaza and the shocking stance of our government.
I've always been interested in politics and world affairs but this time I feel haunted by what's happening and all the children and babies and innocent people being ruthlessly killed every minute of every day.

Sorry, not what you expect on a gaming thread.

@VitVitMe hello. I got the game on the back of this thread. First go for me yesterday and I thought it was great fun once I had go the knack of the controls.

How are you doing? I can’t watch the news at all at the moment. I also know doing exercise helps lift my spirits and having something else I can do indoors whilst it’s so dark and the weather is poor is really great.
