Best VR headset?

I'm aware the Oculus Quest 2 is the best, but I'm a little put off by spending almost £300 as I'm somewhat new to VR. However, I don't want to end up buying a cheaper alternative and essentially wasting my money if the quality just isn't as good and I'm not getting the best VR experience.

So are there any cheaper alternatives to the Quest 2 that are still good?

I have only got the quest two.

I've not tried any others but I have to say I am impressed with mine. I'm not a gamer as in call of duty or anything but I am enjoying what I'm doing on the quest.

I am enjoying beat saber the most. I'm on medium level now . I like watching the little videos they put on there. Watching a sea life programme is brilliant as you can turn round a full 360 for different views.

I watch Netflix on it sometimes also.

I think it is worth the £300.

@limitededitionbarbie This is exactly what I am looking to do as well. I'm not a big gamer, it's more the experience I'd be buying it for. That's why I'm sceptical spending so much to just watch cool stuff ..

My DC have the Quest 2 but haven't tried any others. It's a really good piece of kit, even I enjoy it occasionally. It hasn't been a one hit wonder, used for a short time then left in a drawer. Definitely worth the £300 imo.

I have the beat saber lady gaga game and I can stay on it an hour easy and I'm sweating and knackered but it's just so good to play on your own when no one's in.

I quite like the shooting game Onward. It's really hard! I am good in the practice rounds then as soon as I play the proper game I panic like fuck and drop all my weapons and end up shot.

There is a walk the plank game. It's really funny playing with a few of you. Some people can do it and some people just can't get their legs to move! It has a spider level also which I found really difficult as I am terrified of spiders.

The videos they have on there are also really good. I probably miss a lot of good stuff and functionality on mine as it's really only used for the beat saber and the videos.

My DD plays a rollacoaster one and she has a few games where you work in a shop or whatever. I can't remember what these games are called but you do different jobs. It's a game about being in work!

The boxing is a super good workout. You will sweat your tits off.

I do think it's worth the money. If you can afford to I would get the extra battery pack if you do decide to get one.

@flashpaper have you had a go of the walk the plank game where you get in the lift? It's so funny to watch people who have the headset on get in the lift then they stand sub consciously how you stand in a lift.

I love our Quest. I play beat saber and Audio trip the most. Similar in concept- both a great work out. I also like a shooting game that involves s lot of ducking and swerving- also a great work out called Blaston. I'm just repeating everyone else I know but there are some really good videos and experiences. Wandering is amazing. Uses google earth but puts you in the place. You can go everywhere and time travel too. My favourite thing to do is to stand outside my dads house in 2015 on a lovely summer day looking at his open windows knowing he is inside (he died a couple of years ago) it feels so real! Honestly if you have got the money it is more than worth it.

If you are thinking of getting a Quest 2, then be quick. They are increasing in price next month... by £100!

I have a Quest 2 and it is great fun. As far as I know, there are no cheaper alternatives.

I see you've bought yours op but just in case anyone else reads this thread (and doesn't already have kids or friends with quests to refer them) - ask for a referral code (on here or on the occulus fb groups) and you get 30 quid of free credit to buy games.

You need to get the code BEFORE setting up your quest for the first time.

I can highly recommend the game Walkabout Mini Golf. Is it amazing value for money with new content every so often. Tomorrow, a crazy golf course based on the film Labyrinth will be released.

Also, (assuming you are female), the FB group Oculus Quest Ladies is a very welcoming bunch who can talk you through things, recommend games and add you as friends so you have people to play with. No mansplaining or creepy guys to put up with.

Yes, I'm female and that sounds great! I'm still figuring it all out, I don't know how to connect with people yet.

I bought the plank game and can't even bring myself to walk out the elevator.🤣 It's so fun though, I keep reminding myself I'm standing in the living room.. yet I'm sweating about taking a step forward

My 11 year old has the PlayStation VR and 14 yo has Oculus Quest 2. They both say the oculus is streets ahead - mainly the tracking which is much more sensitive.

The game Synth Riders is one of my favourites and gets a lot of use. There is a demo for it. Beat Saber is also a popular one.

If you have bought a game and you don't like it, you can return it if you have played for less than 2 hours and bought it less than 14 days ago.

Beat saber is great. I'm a bit pissed so I'm going on it now

I cannot go on it now as it's been left in the cupboard with no charge! Am gutted.

Oh no! I hate it when that happens.

Synth Riders is kind of similar to Beat Saber in that is doing stuff to music. Beat Saber is slashing blocks, whereas Synth Riders is lining your hands up with orbs.
It is a lot of fun, and the music is a lot better too.
I believe it is on sale this weekend.
