TangelaHair Time and free research slot(s). If I’m on the way to work, I often want to claim a task so it counts for the day and then stack it, so I have time to spin the PokeStops on my walk to work and the slots available for new tasks.

It’s also good for, say, the Meltan tasks. We are aware there is a ‘Catch an Aerodactyl’ task later down the line, so if you find that stop, claim the reward and then stack, it will be there for you later to use for that task.

Useful if you're on the move & don't want to waste time catching the rewards; can save until later.
I think some people used to use it as extra pokemon storage, but I couldn't quite see the point of that.
I tend to use it to store up rewards that might be useful to complete a different quest. For example, the reward for evolving 2 pidgeys is a caterpie. I tend to stack the bug rewards so that when I do find the catch 5 bug quest, I can use ones from my stack if there aren't many bugs around where i am.
Currently have stacked the aerodactyls (yes, I know you only need one!) for when I get to that stage of the meltan special research.

Another question about stacked encounters. I have an Aerodactyl and once I land the excellent throw I'll have a Ditto. But I think you need to catch the Ditto earlier than the Aerodactyl. So the order I have them in isn't much use. Is that right?

ContraryToPopularBelief You need the Ditto first. So just catch the Ditto (appears as a Pidgey from that quest) when you claim the reward; don’t stack it, just catch it there and then.

If you have already claimed and stacked (ie. run away from it), then yes, it’s no use as it goes oldest > newest.

Thanks @WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue I think I'll stack the Ditto as getting an excellent throw is harder (for me). I'll try to get another Hatch 2 eggs task and then they'll be in the right order.

ContraryToPopularBelief No worries If it’s any help, all three tasks seem to be very common. I came across the Aerodactyl one on three separate PokeStops today.

I'm a keen but amateur pokemon trainer trying to complete that Pokedex and level up (currently at 30).

Did you pick up the task before the event? The old task didn't give Aerodactyl but the event task does. The event tasks start with the words "Let's Go"

GooodMythicalMorning It will have been because you got the task before the new one was rereleased with Aerodactyl as the reward.

I caught a shiny grimer this morning and hatched a shiny togepi. Today’s going great

No shiny rabbit yet but did catch a shiny Pikachu this morning!
