Has everybody got Ex Raid passes for next Saturday? Hopefully it'll be another 100% catch rate...

Welcome to the new thread.

@RueDeWakening I have no idea but probably. Most of my gifts are either central London or local ones :)

Also, so many people walking Loatds. WHY WON'T IT RAIN?!

TangelasVine · 05/08/2018 23:36

Hahaha I've been walking Lotad for 10k now!

Report
TangelasVine · 05/08/2018 23:37

140 k that should say

I'm walking my swablu because I never get swablu and it feels like I'm getting somewhere. 10k to go - I may just drive up to the Elephant and Castle tomorrow; I'll get my 10k sitting in traffic up there.

Then I can start on my Loatd 😁

Swablu are all over the place here! I actually have enough candy for Altaria but I'm holding off evolving until I get either a >90% IV or a Shiny Swablu. Apparently Altaria isn't even that good (faints in a light breeze type of thing) but it's taken so long to gather the goods that I can't bring myself to spend them on anything other than something cool or at least reasonably min-maxed.

What I am having trouble finding atm are gifts. Has the drop rate tailed off for anyone else here or have I just been unlucky? I'm wondering if Niantic has done some sort of rebalancing work under the bonnet (admittedly gifts do seem a bit OP right now. With ~30 friends, I get so many resources each day that I almost don't need to spin stops anymore, but I feel cheap not being able to return the favour!).

Report
RueDeWakening · 06/08/2018 07:10

LBOCS2 I got my Altaria by taking the kids over to Kidspace a few months ago, there was a nest and they were all over the place :o

I've walked my Vigoroth for 80k so far, still need another 18 candy. Tempted to use some rare candy on it tbh.

I think gifts don't drop quite as often as they did, and also the stuff inside them has been rebalanced - the first few days were a bit insane you got so much stuff. The issue I have is that my bag keeps filling up, I have to junk stuff to open them.

Yeah, same problem with a full inventory here too. I'm full scrub-level though, with a pathetic 450 items/300 Pokemon total. Seen local raid friends with >1000 for each. Part of the problem is undoubtedly my outright refusal to spend actual money on the in-game currency lol.

Oh, and forgot to post this cheeky little find from over the weekend, just ahead of community day 😁

I'm walking a Dragonair, I caught one wild, haven't seen a wild one (or a Draitini for that matter), since, odd as I get a lot of other water pokemon in my area.

I've only ever seen one Lapras, ds wasn't here and I couldn't sleep so was faffing on my phone, when I spotted it in the local park at about 3am. I literally ran to stick my shoes on and go catch it, which I did. So glad it didn't time out before I got there. The IV isn't great sadly, 0 defence, but I have a few 10K eggs from that area, maybe one is another higher IV Lapras .

I get very few fire pokemon, and Arcanine is one of my favs, so I'll be walking a Growlithe next, and then maybe Gengar (the one I have has a crap IV, but I have a decent Haunter now I can evolve). We used to get tons of Gastly but not these days.

I stopped playing for over 6 months, so I feel really behind. Nowhere near catching mew2. Will have a look at what groups I'm on, on fb and report back. I have 11 "friends" now, and it seems about 4 or 5 are reasonably local (a bus or train away), which is a nice surprise.

To get an EX raid pass for mewtwo you need to raid (any level, level 1 and 2 should be solo-able, some 3 are if you're a decent level with the right team) at gyms in parks mostly. All our ex raid gyms near me are in local parks, some parks have more than one ex gym in them.

But if your park hasn't had an ex raid before it needs unlocking first - you need lots of raiders in biggish groups to trigger them aiui.

Report
WickedLazy · 06/08/2018 11:21

I've done raids, but only solo as of yet. I think my local park might have at least one ex raid gym, if not there's bound to be one closer to the city centre.

Best way to get involved in Raiding is to firstly get yourself onto the local Facebook PoGo group(s) for your area and, from there, onto the associated Messenger or Discord chats. Community raiding can be a lot of fun and nets a fair chunk of XP every time, which is especially valuable if you're still sub level-30. Other players tend to be very friendly and it's generally a lot easier to level up when surrounded by other committed Trainers sharing gifts, trading 'mons etc. And the other big advantage is combatting the in-game 'fog of war'; multiple sets of eyes around the local area can alert you to raids and spawns that you would otherwise miss outside of your immediate play zone.

I've been community raiding for about a month now, and (if it isn't obvious 😂) I'm really enjoying it.

Added you Tits.

I was driving around south London today and as I usually do I handed my pogo+ to my 5yo to press the buttons on it (keeps her occupied, catches Pokémon, hatches eggs, what's not to like?!) and annoyingly it wasn't registering pokestops quickly enough so we kept missing them. I also found out today that you can change the settings so it only picks up pokestops or Pokémon, so if you're short on balls you can prioritise topping up if you're on the bus or whatever.

Interesting to see the regional variation in buddies. Lotads aren’t uncommon here (Scotland so lots of rain!). Teddiursas are pretty common. Everything fire generally rare. Magikarps only really common along the river.

I’m gearing up for a mass evolve and once again wishing I’d calculated IVs as I went along rather than doing 100s at once.

Gutted I've just missed lucky Raichu, I wouldn't have made it in 10 mins.

Are the people who find Swablu uncommon in/near London? My friend who lives just outside and commutes in says Swablu are very rare, but up here in the North West of England they're everywhere! He's constantly amazed at my swablu count.

Report
TangelasVine · 06/08/2018 20:47

You can raid a lucky?

Lots of Swablu here just outside London.

Report
PickAChew · 06/08/2018 20:59

Swablu are very weather dependent. Feast or famine, I find, then they disappear entirely during events.

I evolved these two chappies back in the spring. The one on the left is more capable than he looks. I should really treat him to some stRdust and candy.

You can raid a lucky?

TangelasVine No, lucky Pokémon can only be obtained via trade.

Swablu are everywhere here too, all the time! I have well over a thousand candy for them.

@PickAChew, well done! I haven't had that quest yet, but as I'm a bit rubbish at curve balls it could take me a while. Although I could always put the daughter on the case. Grin

I did get an Alolan Raichu from a raid today though.

Report
PickAChew · 06/08/2018 23:52

It's an easy one because they only have to be curve balls.

I might be holding onto the 3 excellent curve balls in a row for a larvitar for longer than it takes me to walk the candy twice over, mind. Lots of nosepass, today but had Ds2 constantly grabbing my hands to use my fingers to count with.

Meet me Sorry to disappoint you but I think that the special move on community day only applies to those caught or hatched during the actual periods this weekend, unlike all the previous community days. Disappointed myself as I have been sitting on a bunch of pretty decent eevees myself (although none as good as your 💯; well jel!!).
