Sims 2/3/4 players!

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 16:00

My name is collywobbles and I am a sims addict!

I have been playing the sims for nearly 20 years, in late 2000, can't believe it's been that long.

Anyways, I wondered how many other sim addicts are out there and if so, if they fancy sharing what they are up to in their games and so forth.

One thing I love about the franchise is just when I think I know everything about the game, I discover something new!

Currently playing the sims 3 at the moment, after months of the sims 4. I like the sims 4 but I like challenging play and the sims 4 is just too darn easy sometimes.

I don’t really play it as a game, I just spend hours making houses and decorating them!!!

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 16:32

Feel free to share your house build pics! I am not the greatest at house building, I love making sims and use custom content, usually play to a sims whims or wishes.

I'm the opposite o find the sims 3 east and the sims 4 too hard especially with toddlers! And the sims 4 doesn't have the same design options when building. But that's just me.

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 16:37

I just get bored with the sims 4, after a while it becomes just plain predictable. I think because the sims 3 is a complete game, running it with all expansion packs, there are so many random events that occur, it holds my interests more. I'm hopeful that the more expansion packs released for sims 4 will make it a bit more unpredictable!

At the moment I don't play the sims 4 as such, I make custom traits, careers and mods for it. The sims 3 I run without any mods.

I love the Sims!

I never really play it properly though, I just like making Sims and houses. I can never build a basement though which is really annoying, any tips would be much appreciated. Grin

DearMrDilkington · 27/06/2018 16:39

I once made a sim version of dp, it looked just like him Grin

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 16:42

Ahh, now that's something I used to love! Making simalikes! I used to pick a celebrity and try to make a sim look a like. Might do that later on today Smile

I play the sims mobile (not FreePlay, the online one).

ZispinAndDisappointingTea · 27/06/2018 17:50

I always play it for a while, get totally bored, leave it, and come back later and start from scratch. Often I just build. Right now I've had a rare long period of not getting bored, and I'm on my seventh generation. They've had five kids, though, and it seems like a bit of a micro-managing nightmare.

My Sims 4 has sadly turned suddenly buggy over the past few days. I see there's an update downloading today, but the downloading itself seems oddly buggy. Now it's claiming I don't actually have Sims 4 installed at all... I just want to get back to potty training Jupiter! (Perk of Sims - you can name your kids whatever you want, without any social consequences...)

ZispinAndDisappointingTea · 27/06/2018 17:53

I'm very disappointed by the way, that murdering your sims seems much harder on 4. I built a dungeon and everything to starve an arsehole boyfriend. He never died!

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 19:06

Hahaha @ZispinAndDisappointingTea!
One of my favourite sims 3 challenges is the asylum challenge, and on the sims 4, none of the sims will cooperate and die! No matter what I try. Drives me insane, I need an asylum!

Well done on reaching 7 generations! The longest I have ever got to is fourth generation. I use deaderpools MCCC mod for story progression, so all the offspring go on to get married and have babies, but once I accidentally left on affairs and the family tree was one complicated mess Grin

I am currently on gen 1 of a 'wishacy' so basically you don't control your sim at all except solely to complete wishes or whims. I love this way of playing as on the sims 3 in particular they often wish for the weirdest of things and totally change up gameplay!

Me, me! I used to be obsessed with the Sims and Sims 2 when I was younger. I then went many years without playing until I downloaded the Sims 4 about a year ago. Totally skipped 3 so I feel like I'm missing out. Currently can't play anything as my PC is away being repaired for the last 3 weeks fgs. I mostly just build and decorate too but I love the extra dimensions that Pets and Parenthood bring to the gameplay. I really want to play now! Sad

CollyWombles · 27/06/2018 21:05

You will have to join in when you get your pc back @CherryBlossom23! Three weeks is ridiculous, what was wrong with the pc?

If you wanted to play the sims 3, the game and its packs are cheap as chips now. Don't go through ea store, use cd keys website. I got into the future pack for sims 3 yesterday for £3! Can't wait to see my sims future and meet her descendants!

Do you have a laptop? Sims 4 plays fine on most laptops in laptop mode.

CherryBlossom23 · 27/06/2018 21:24

Yeah it's my laptop that's broken, don't know why I said PC Confused. It was in two weeks ago because it just suddenly turned off and wouldn't turn on again, apparently needed a new motherboard. Got it replaced, brought it home, seemed fine and the next day the same thing happened again! Waiting to hear from them about what's actually wrong this time! Total pain.

CollyWombles · 28/06/2018 21:39

My daughter and I are having a sims 3 challenge, whoever has completed the most wishes of their sim by the time they die, wins. Little does she know that I've been playing wish style for years muhaha! My sim wished to go to Egypt and had an opportunity to explore a tomb, she has done more in her sim life than I've done in mine HmmGrin

Can I ask, for those of you who play on laptop, what laptop do you use? I'm going to have to get a new one and I'm not sure how powerful it should be to run the game decently.

CollyWombles · 29/06/2018 13:00

I use the HP pavilion G6. For a laptop to run sims 3/4 efficiently the very minimum it should have is an intel I3 processor, or the AMD equivalent. 4 gb ram too. Because laptops have for the most got built in graphics chips, as long as the processor is the i3 or above, the graphics chip will handle the sims fine. For playing it on very high settings, I would suggest the i5 processor.

Great, thanks CollyWombles! Smile

schoty77 · 05/07/2018 22:53

I'm a Sims addict too! I've been playing Sim 2 since it came out, still my favourite and the later games seem to give me migraines for some reason? I do a lot of legacy challenges, and have neighbourhoods set in different time periods. I have about 4GB of downloads, so my game takes about an hour to load up. Worth it though!

Nerdykitkat123 · 08/07/2018 20:26

I absolutly adore the sims 2 and 3. Although I did try and download the sims 4 it didnt work on my laptop so sadly cant play the sims 4. From what Ive herd about the sims 4 though im not missing out on much.

With the sims 2 i only use it to build houses and create towns. With the sims 3 though i just create a family and use pre-built houses as I cant seem to build as well as with the sims 2.

BertieBotts · 08/07/2018 20:30

Me! Though my graphics card melted so I can't play at the moment :(

BertieBotts · 08/07/2018 20:31

You're right it's been about 20 years - that's crazy.

ShreddedFeet · 08/07/2018 20:36

Sims 2 is my absolute favourite. I have loads of the expansion packs.
Sadly I don't own a computer that they are compatable with anymoreSad
All my Sims 2 games are in a cupboard collecting dust.
Have a few Sims games on PlayStation but it's just not the same.
I miss Sims so much.
I wish a was more techy so I knew what PC I need to play them on.

purplecorkheart · 08/07/2018 20:37

Used to be a sims player but hated Sims 4. Tend to head back to sims 3 the odd time but not as engaged by it as I used to.

Sims4Addict · 08/07/2018 20:41

I've played since the beginning as well. I'm very invested into sims4 these days. I just won seasons in a competition on twitter so I'm currently building an ice rink.

Asylum is slightly less random but you can use traits and clubs to mix it up a bit.

I build a lot and play challenges. I'm loving jungle adventure still. All the exploring is awesome. I only got it in the sale a couple of weeks back so I'm swamped with new content atm.
