It looked like a new thread was needed, so here it is, all shiny and pristine.

Does anyone know how long these 'nests' stay around for? My local park has been bulbasaur heaven today. Caught 6 within 5 minutes and saw plenty more on sightings as I left. Caught 4 in the same park earlier too. Do you think they might be there again tomorrow or should I pop back out now and grab as many as I can?

MuddlingMackem · 04/06/2017 00:02

Alice, they change every second Thursday.

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 04/06/2017 08:18

Thanks Mudding Smilehopefully I can catch enough this week to evolve him a final time.

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 12:37

Thanks to our friends at Team Eevolution (who are credited to leaking previous event information)

They have leaked the entire announcement.

“Trainers,

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire-types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

—The Pokémon GO team”

Well, this look pretty legit as the same folks were previously leaked information about the Double XP event as well.

Hope so!! I need more cyndaquil, only got the one

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 12:41

Aww yay! I absolutely need more charmander and cyndaquills!

BelfastSmile · 04/06/2017 13:10

I've just started playing, and I'm still not really sure how it works (haven't previously played any Pokemon games, though DH has).

Also don't have a data allowance, so can only play when I'm on WiFi.

So far I'm just collecting Pokémon when I turn the app on and they're there. I upgraded some of them because it said I could, but don't really know why I'd want to! Will I run out of the candy I need for ugrades? Will I run out of pokeballs?

I've a poke stop nearby which also has free WiFi, but I'm not sure what I'm meant to do. I found some extra Pokémon there, but nothing else different from playing at home. I clicked on the stop on my phone, but it just showed me a picture of the building - nothing I could interact with. What am I meant to do?

I'm ignoring gyms for now until I figure out Poke stops!

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 13:13

Pokestops are needing because it gives you your streaks for special items (like a kings rock) and it gives you more items such a small poke balls and eggs

You will run out of pokeballs and you do need data

You walk eggs to hatch and you find more Pokemon as you walk about

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 13:14

When you click on the pokestops, it brings up the picture. You need to spin it

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 13:19

BelfastSmile Pokestops have already been explained by PP, but since you're new, don't upgrade (power up/evolve) just yet! You'll need your stardust if you want to be a serious player.

It's not worth powering up anything until you get past Level 20, as the Pokemon are just too low level otherwise.

And you power up the Pokemon you want to use to fight in gyms. Only select Pokemon should be powered up because you get so little stardust.

BelfastSmile · 04/06/2017 13:21

Thanks! I'll spin it next time I'm past!

I have WiFi codes for every cafe, library and shop that I can lay my hands on, so I can walk down the road and be online most of the time- would that count?

FreeNiki · 04/06/2017 13:21

Yay. I need Cyndaquil and Houndor. Only have one of each.

BelfastSmile · 04/06/2017 13:23

Thanks. @WhatToDoAboutThis2017. I'm not sure I have any ambition to be a serious player, but we'll see!

I quite like just catching a few Pokémon when I'm out and about!

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 13:23

It wil count to some degree

But it helps to have data because it's easier to just log in and then walk. Not stop every few moments and log in. As soon as you are out of the wifi area, Pokemon will crash

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 13:31

That's okay, BelfastSmile! Just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to be one Smile

Yeah, I don't think it's really possible to play without data.

BelfastSmile · 04/06/2017 13:33

Thanks, @WhatToDoAboutThis2017 and @Soubriquet - I'll just truck along for now! I can buy data, I think, so maybe I'll do that if I get addicted!

Starlight2345 · 04/06/2017 17:09

Caught this one in Greece

PokemonGo #9. A journey to hatch a 10km egg starts with a single step.
WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 17:16

Starlight2345 Yes, Houndour is awesome Grin

Not region exclusive, but very rare.

Starlight2345 · 04/06/2017 18:03

Yes I was pleased. It was at the airport at 1am so cheered my night up.

DoctorTwo · 04/06/2017 18:23

Caught these two today, such a contrast, though they did both drop first throw.

Starlight2345 We should hopefully see a little more Houndour's during the upcoming fire event Grin

My lucky DH already has a Houndoom because he evolved a Houndour and then walked it!

DoctorTwo What's their appraisal? It would really suck if the CP20 one was the wonder and the high one won't make much headway!

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 18:51

My fucking data still won't work!!! I haven't done any hunting for 3 days!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 18:53

Oh that sucks Sad

Why won't it work?

Soubriquet · 04/06/2017 19:00

Doing work on the phone masts around here

Been going on for a few months now and this is the second time I've been affected.

Last time it lasted over a week. I'll be pissed if I miss this event

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 19:24

That sucks. Hopefully it'll be good for the event, it doesn't start till the 13th!

WhiteHorseWilliam · 04/06/2017 19:48

Oh, yay! I need loads of fire types, also Sneazel.

Went to a kids play place yesterday that is always a brilliant nest - in that, whatever it is spawning, there are loads of them, like about five at a time in a tiny area. It's never on the nest atlas - probably because it's quite a spendy place, and you wouldn't really go there without kids - so I didn't know what would be spawning but was hoping to stuff my bag with Chikorita or Totodile or something exciting.

Bloody Poliwag. Gaah.

Only need five candies for Tyranitar, excited...
