There is a red box on each farm, not in the shop. Once you open one you may have to wait a while to find another.
You have to keep buying trees. I wish the sheep would die

I've just accepted two in Game Centre. One from Hay Day and one from subway surfers, whatever that is

How do I get rid of the dead trees? They are making the farm look unloved.

If they have had 2 lives you can get a tree revived by clicking and dragging the ! sign on it. Another player will give it a hug and revive it.
After a 3rd crop they are dead. Drag an axe or saw over the tree and it will chop it down.

I still can't get the boxes to open for free! Tried 24 times...

Sometimes the boxes are well hidden. try a farm without too much clutter or trees. If you can't spot the box look for sparkles rising from behind a tree. If you still can't try after half an hour.
Norks are you refreshing the farm?

I am touching the box, it's asking me to pay 3 diamonds so I'm touching the farm background, going back to friends list, choosing the same friend, then looking around their farm for the box again and repeating over and over again!!

You are doing it right. Give it half an hour and try again. It's a glitch in the game so it's not supposed to happen and is unpredictable.

You are welcome. Exit You can use all the axes and saws to clear the trees and bushes from your land. they are not real.
You get free tools in return for farming ie planting , harvesting and feeding your animals.

I can't keep up with the bloody animals! And the free tools cannot come fast enough.

Also. I noticed horses randomly roaming around some farms? Is that safe - for the horses?

the red boxes emit little sparkles or such, so if hidden behind a building or tree watch out for tiny white dots (like mini puffs of steam going upwards) and tap just below it.

I don't know how to describe it better.

next time you see a redbox just watch it for half a minute so you can see the "sparkles"/stars" emerging.

I only have two dogs, they are called Maple and Bruno.
my two youngest just love feeding them. DD squeals with delight every time we whistle for them and they come running to the kennel!

No, you get free ads at regular intervals (about every 5 minutes I think).
If you advertise something very popular such as a cake or building materials it will sell instantly. The advert only stays in the paper until the item is sold. This is why many people just advertise the boring stuff like eggs that nobody buys, because the ad will stay in the paper much longer.
It's also why you can find good stuff in a shop that is advertising corn or jumpers.
