Sun £9.50 holidays are back from 5th Jan. Am a virgin Sun holiday person. Are there any tips to guarantee a good holiday?

Due to a mixture of the credit crunch, me being a mature student and DP having had an accident and not working, I am going to see if I can get a Sun holiday this year for us. Ideally we are looking at North / Mid Wales, Southern Scotland and Yorkshire. Are there any fab places to go that we should ask for? Are there any dives to be avoided at all costs? Can anyone share their experiences from years goneby? Thanks!!!

mary, i got it from either this thread or another one i'm posting on about Sun Holidays. weirdly i've just bought NOTW (may try to book a 2nd break) and the code in there is MARK it's on page 42 of NOTW!

maryBS - how much did you pay for the 7 nights in France - was it 2 x £9.50 pp?

nappyaddict · 12/01/2009 00:38

MaryBS - do you live close to the ferry crossing? we thought about france but decided it would be too much driving.

J20 - i thought it didn't even open until then. it must have opened a bit earlier.

pleae Avoid craig tara at all costs its discusting cold pool is freezing place is generally dirty

Notalone · 12/01/2009 12:33

Thanks Sheena. I read some reviews about some of the Scottish sites and 99% of the reviews said the same about Craig Tara. Auchenalarie only had one review and the person had been twice so am hoping thats a good thing! I am going to try for an upgrade to a gold caravan - should cost an extra £40 and may even get a sea view to boot

nappy-as soon as i found it was open i posted on here, about 10.45-but then i was messing about trying to get the one i wanted and when i couldn't trying to find pictures and reviews of the one it was offering me. I know that the people on the moneysavingxpert thread managed to get on around the same time as me trying different words.

Glad you got your caravan even if it did mean paying a bit extra, did you get a site with the free entertainment?

MaryBS · 12/01/2009 14:55

Chippyminton, yes, it cost us £19.50 pp.

Nappyaddict, no we don't live close to the ferry crossing, but we'll probably book a travelodge for the night before, that's what we did last year!

catweazle · 12/01/2009 19:58

Just booked ours for the park we wanted on the IoW the week we wanted. So much easier booking online

nappyaddict · 12/01/2009 22:59

J20 - that's weird. I tried the site at 11 and it wasn't open for me.

sheena1 · 13/01/2009 08:24

I went 3 times last year easter summer n just before end of season all 3 times the park was discusting pool freezing my boy turned blue had sickness rest of holiday litter every where complex covered in litter shop was empty most of the time only good point was the entertainment at night my kids loved it but as for anything else i would never recomen it to anyone .

sheena1 · 13/01/2009 08:24

sorry ment to add there craig tara is what im talkin about lol

MaryBS · 13/01/2009 08:28

nappy, you asked about the ferry... what we've decided to do now is travel down on the Sunday, catch the ferry and stay in a Campanile, which we booked over the internet. Ferry cost £74, hotel £54 Euros, if that helps...

MaryBS · 13/01/2009 08:28

Sorry, thats 54 euros, I've just invented a new currency, the pound-euro!

saramapperley · 13/01/2009 17:35

Has anyone been to ParkDean Bideford Bay (near Clovelly)? Managed to get hlf term week in May and have applied for w/e before or after by psot to get a whole week. Just hope the weather's not like last year!

NeedCoffee · 27/01/2009 22:04
