Sun £9.50 holidays are back from 5th Jan. Am a virgin Sun holiday person. Are there any tips to guarantee a good holiday?

Due to a mixture of the credit crunch, me being a mature student and DP having had an accident and not working, I am going to see if I can get a Sun holiday this year for us. Ideally we are looking at North / Mid Wales, Southern Scotland and Yorkshire. Are there any fab places to go that we should ask for? Are there any dives to be avoided at all costs? Can anyone share their experiences from years goneby? Thanks!!!

Chippy- I found road!! I was well chuffed with myself

ChippyMinton · 11/01/2009 00:26

I tried some words but my mind went blank.
Phew, both booking confirmations have just come through now (DH had a form too).

J2O · 11/01/2009 00:46

We've just booked a £9 travelodge room for the night we leave very chuffed, i think we are going to try and get a few £9 or £19 rooms on the way back home to make more of a holiday of it

ChippyMinton · 11/01/2009 00:47

I do love a bargain
Mind you I booked out easter break direct with the park because it was cheaper than the sun would've been.

J2O · 11/01/2009 00:47

ooh i'm 'chuffed' a lot tonight/this morning, better chuffer off to bed!

ChippyMinton · 11/01/2009 00:52

i couldn't resist checking the 'real' price of what i've booked. Bargainacious!

J2O · 11/01/2009 01:05

i know, ours should have been about £280!

nappyaddict · 11/01/2009 01:24

sigh. it gave me parkdean torquay an hour ago but i didn't book it thinking i might be able to get the one i wanted by jigging the order around a bit and now parkdean torquay has gone as well. why can't you just put in the date you want to go and it will show you all the available parks!!

nappyaddict · 11/01/2009 01:27

Just wondering what all your booking numbers are? Apparently the lower the number the earlier you booked?

Hi I'm new on here but while going on the net to find out if there should be a code for the sun holidays in todays NOTW it led me to this site, which I have found really useful. I have been on the sun holidays for the past 5 years (since my eldest was born), but can anyone help me I've collected 6 tokens from the sun and have bought todays NOTW but cannot find the token???? Also I'm confused as how come some of you have already been able to book how did you have enough codes, please please help as need to try and get preferred sites as daughter is travel sick so have to stick close to home. Many Thanks

J2O · 11/01/2009 08:58

Nappy-bummer, thats rubbih, mine is 311, can't believe 311 people managed to book before me when i managed to get on so quick!

sweetie-do you have a priority booking form? If so the codes you need are

ABLE
BAND
PAGE
TOWN
MAIN
LOCK
ROPE
SOFT

Eddas · 11/01/2009 08:58

sm, we've booked with a priority form, if you don't have one you'll have to wait til you've got 10 tokens. There is one in todays paper as someone got the code word from it.

You can download a token from the sun website but it's a bonus one, so aslong as you've not got one of those already you can use that too.

I've not use the priorty form befoe, but last year I sent in the normal form and got the park I wanted. Can you be flexible on dates as that will help

benbon · 11/01/2009 09:44

well ours is all booked were off to butlins at minehead in may but were gonna upgrade as i know the very basic apartments arnt that great.

the kids will love it!!!

sweetiemummy · 11/01/2009 09:48

thanks for all of your help, I recieved a letter saying I only need 8 tokens instead of 10 then I can book on line - is this the peiority form but I cant find todays in NOTW I went out at 630 to by the paper too (the only day the kids have lay in too), I'm gutted!!

sweetiemummy · 11/01/2009 09:58

Yes it is the priority form I have and it is letting me put all the codes in but then I go into another page as I'm trying to book and it's asking me for a key word???Icant find a key word anywhere on priority form - where can I find it. I'm getting desperate now...arrh!!!

Eddas · 11/01/2009 09:58

the letter you had is the priority form, use the web address to get to the online booking and use the code words. You need your ref number, top right hand side of the letter and you'll be able to book now

Eddas · 11/01/2009 09:59

you don't need that just go to the next page once you've put how many people it's for

sweetiemummy · 11/01/2009 10:16

Yay - thanks all those who printed code words. I didn't get them all - kept forgetting to buy the paper. I've booked May half term week on the isle of wight!! I can't wait - i love it there!

Eddas · 11/01/2009 11:31

your welcome sweetiemummy

nappyaddict · 11/01/2009 11:53

J20 What time did you book yours then? I think some of the parks must not do certain dates because I was on it from 11:45 and still couldn't get what I wanted. Eventually I worked out it was cos I put for 5 people. I ended up paying extra and putting 6 people down to get the date. Bit of a con really. They must only let you have it if you put 4, 6 or 8 down to get the maximum money for the caravan iyswim.

MaryBS · 11/01/2009 13:28

Eddas - curious to know, where did you get ABLE from? We've got all the other codes...

MaryBS · 11/01/2009 14:08

Brilliant! Have booked our first choice place for the half term week. We have costed this out, and it WOULD have costed about £600 to the park we picked in France. Its costing just over £200 including ferry crossing. And we are going to the same place we went to last year, so no risk involved in terms of what the park is like.

It was SO much easier booking online! We were able to book 7 days straight away instead of confirming our 4 day booking then phoning to see if we could extend it to 7! Incidently the Sun offer on Ferries is more expensive than booking your own crossing....

J2O · 11/01/2009 14:11

nappy i think i booked it about 11.45 ish
