Was hoping to visit a certain MN'r and make a nice weekend of it and stay somewhere sort of lux and boutiquey, but alas everywhere we've tried so far is booked up, (one till dec), due to the last race of the season inc:

Oswalds
Crab Manor
Solberge hall

We thought of Harrogate, Hotel Du Vin for eg , but wanted to be more in the countryside and nearer to our destination of Northallerton.

Thank you anyone who can help

Somethings telling me we might need to re look at dates later in the year .

The Feversham Arms looks lovely, but its an hour each way and back once there!

Alwark Manor is very nice but might not be close enough to Northallerton for you.

melsy · 25/08/2008 18:49

That does look lovely, alas its 30miles away.

About half an hour from Northallerton.

geordieminx · 25/08/2008 20:09

TONTINE

The rooms aren't fab but the restuarant is totally amazing!!!

melsy · 25/08/2008 20:39

wow geordie minx , it sooo is like a bordello as it explains!!!!! Think I might get nightmares in the black wallpaper room!!!!

Ive got completely confused about the distances of all the hotels linked !!!!

Thank you so far to all and the suggestions.

I think we're disapointed about Oswalds as that was the nearest!!

I think its the thought of driving 4-5hrs and then having another 40-60mins of driving back and forth !!!

Think the Crathorne and the Queens Head look like poss contenders as theyre the nearest.

Dh looking for ease in location !

How far is Guisborough?

melsy · 25/08/2008 21:16

Just calling now, may be they can suggest somewhere else near.

used to be owned by Richard Branson - each room had a huge soft toy dog, if you didnt want to be disturbed in the morning you placed the dog outside your room - "let sleeping dogs lie"

melsy · 25/08/2008 21:26

hehehe thats a good one geordieminx!

Crathorne fully booked for a wedding, she suggested Judges, looks very beautiful but dh isn't a fan of country homes in the trad style , think that's why he liked Crathorne. She suggested Swinton park , so just googling now.

Apart from that its Harrogate.

From Swinton website "Cots and Z Beds are available, at a charge of £35 per night, including breakfast. Children under 8 years are asked not to eat in the restaurant after 7.00pm"

CHEEKY B@STARDS!!!

melsy · 25/08/2008 21:32

well thats out, as its starting to get way too expensive, even before the cheeky additions Ive just clocked too geordieminx

Obviously not very child friendly either, hate hate stuffy English hotels.

OP posts:
melsy · 25/08/2008 21:34
