  1. North Korea 🇰🇵. Totalitarian hellhole
  2. Russia 🇷🇺. Totalitarian hellhole and forced military conscription and the fact that they are bombing Ukraine.
  3. Poland.
  4. Romania. Very uninteresting country
  5. Mexico 🇲🇽. I see many Americans moving there. Which is crazy considering it’s a cartel state.
  6. Jamaica. Very gentrified, 99 percent of beaches are blocked and privatised. Just all inclusive resort dystopias everywhere. Jamaica might be beautiful but it is a gentrified dystopia.
  7. Bahamas. Same reason. Gentrified dystopia.
  8. Cayman island. It’s no difference then Miami (before trump). Masses of tourists. Very crowded. Land of consumerism. There are more white people than locals.
  9. Haiti. A gang infested island.
  10. Israel.
  11. Barbados. Gentrified to the max.

Oh I've been there several times.
Very dull 😁

The Nantes elephant is interesting, and the engineering heritage of the city. There’s interest in most places if you’re open minded 😁

Some of these places you have listed are huge and have very diverse landscapes. Regimes also change, so never say never!

It depends on what your priorities are. Some of the Caribbean islands are mainly geared towards luxury beach holidays. The Cayman Islands are exciting if you’re into scuba diving.

I prefer places that are not known by the masses when I go to the Caribbean or South America.

Dominica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, St Lucia, French Guiana and Suriname for example.

my favourite one is Dominica. Free accessible beaches not crowded by tourists and beautiful nature. No resort dystopias, no wristbands no problems.

my favorite place is Batibou beach. Untamed beach and nature. No crowds of westerners flocking the beach.

The only places I rule out are ones that are fundamentally unsafe, or where their approach to human rights is concerning.
And even so, I’m disappointed I can’t go to most of them.

Describing a whole country as “boring” is more of a reflection on the OP than the country.

All of it? Poland has an incredible history.

Wouldn’t bother interacting with the rage bait. Someone has a narrow view of life and too much time on their hands. Everywhere I’ve been in Poland has been incredible. People, food, culture, history. Anyone with a remotely open mind would never say it’s a boring country 😂

I'm surprised you missed out Turkey. (Turkiye)

May I suggest Mongolia. One of the least visited countries in the world.

Apart from no 1 and no 10 I’ve been to all your no no countries, you are certainly missing out by not going to them.

Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, any of the ME. I'm sure they're beautiful countries but as a solo female traveller I'll never set foot in any of them

I’ve been to Egypt and Tunisia on my own and had fantastic holidays.

Also been to Mexico loads of times alone and to visit a female friend who lives there alone! We don’t stick to touristy areas and had the best trips ! Obviously careful about where you go and what you do ! But I love the place

Dubai - I went to visit friends but would never go back, it’s so far removed from my personal values just a monument to capitalism and spending money on expensive meaningless shit built on slave labour. Hated it.

This sums up why I’d never want to go there. I find that kind of opulence obscene.

Antarctica - should be left alone - conservation
India
Iran
America
Haiti
Mexico
Nth Korea
Thailand
Bali
Africa
New Guinea
China
Afghanistan
Middle East

Reasons .. dangerous or too hot or culturally not attractive to me.

Edited

Why have you listed countries separately and then "Africa" - there's 54 countries in Africa, you're just writing every single one off?! 😂

avignon1234 · 03/05/2026 22:21

Poland and Romania are glorious. Been to Poland about 10 times (lots of cities), and Romania once, but for extended trip, lots of cities, and the mountains. The people in both are friendly, particularly Romania, the cities and towns are often very beautiful. Depending where you go, it is half the price (at least) of the UK to do anything. Transport (at least by train) is probably better in Poland, but it is OK in Romania (slower). I would go back to both in a heartbeat.

China

Reasons .. dangerous or too hot or culturally not attractive to me.

I have just come back from a 3 week holiday in China.

As a tourist I felt very safe. We were sometimes in really crowded places - tourist sites, subways, people out having a good time on the streets in the evening - but there was never any sign of trouble or rowdy behaviour and no fear of getting your pocket picked or your bag snatched. I would be much more on my guard in Paris or Barcelona or any major European city.

Temperature depends a bit on time of year and where you are, it is an enormous country. We started in Beijing and gradually worked out way South ending in Hong Kong. At this time of year the temperature in the North was similar to UK. As we moved South it got a bit hotter, low 30s, but never unbearable. I think some areas can get in to the 40s in summer. Pick your time of year carefully. We spent one night in a monastery in the mountains and had to sleep fully dressed to keep warm!

Culture-wise a very, very varied country. Interesting cities, breathtaking landscapes.
