Okay so he's done all the Big places with grandparents to London tower/ boat trip et cetera.

I'm suggesting (this is for my mates son) the Covent garden transport museum.

My mate says he takes delight in the smallest of things so what would you do with a seven-year-old boy in London that would excite him?

Cable car

"Drive" the bus from the top deck front seats, or the DLR from the front. Earthquake simulator in the Science Museum. See the Mummy's in the British Museum.

Was also going to say the Transport Museum! Tickets last for a year so you can revisit for free.

At that age my boy loved a visit to Hamleys, the Lego shop and the M&M shop.

Princess Diana garden?

Trooping the colour is coming up on 14th June.

I think if you search on Buckingham Palace’s website you can find out the times for the changing of the guard.

the Lego shop in Leicester Square is great - but be prepared to leave with a much lighter wallet! Grin
The Postal Museum is good too.

Ask AI for an exciting itinerary in London for a seven year old boy and see what comes up.

Drivingmissrangey · 24/05/2025 12:01

Yes to the Transport Museum.

Maybe HMS Belfast?

Mine love an open top bus if the weathers ok.

Princess Diana garden?

And the fountain.
Not far from museums.

There is nothing at this attraction that would excite a seven year-old boy - it's very boring!

Harassedevictee · 24/05/2025 12:14

I’ve not done it yet but I like the idea of the Mail Train under London. https://www.postalmuseum.org/visit-us/what-to-expect/mail-rail/

Sadly it’s closed 3-13 June.

If you can still make reservations at the ice cream parlour at Fortnum and Mason, eating an ice cream sundae bigger than their heads was a big hit with my 6&8 year olds.

Wibblywobblybobbly · 24/05/2025 12:18

Postal Museum is brilliant. Also the Martime Museum in Greenwich combined with the Cutty Sark.

Mikart · 24/05/2025 12:23

Climbing the monument. Eaterly for pizza

SandrenaIsMyBloodType · 24/05/2025 12:27

DD24 took me to the Postal Museum for Mothers Day. We loved it. A trip to Hamleys with a small pre-set budget perhaps. Lunch in the Rainforest Cafe. Boat from Embankment station. London River Bus - lots of places to get on and off.

The Science Museum Wonderlab is absolutely terrific - lots of interactive things to touch and do. DS loved it when he was younger.

Battersea Park Zoo is great too. Not huge, but some interesting animals to look at and a real fire engine to play in!

If you are looking for a fun shop, Forbidden Planet is great. DS loved Pokemon and Marvel and there is loads of cool stuff to buy there, including graphic novels/comics suitable for the younger reader.

peppermum · 24/05/2025 12:38

What about the Postal Museum in Holborn - lots of fun hands on stuff for a 7 year old boy and a trip on the underground Mail rail should be a hit!

Maybe meant the Princess Diana playground in Kensington Gardens which is brilliant for a 7 year old. Believe it's going to close for 6 months from this Autumn for an upgrade, so get in while you can!

MyKingdomForACat · 24/05/2025 12:47

London Zoo.

If you go to Greenwich, the river tunnel could be fun for a small boy.
