Getting from Euston Station to St Pancras with pushchair and luggage

My family are travelling on the eurostar for a holiday. This will include myself, dh, 6 year old and almost 3 year old twins. We will get the train from the midlands to London and the nearest station to St Pancras we can arrive at is Euston (correct me please of I am wrong here).

I am thinking of taking the double stroller mainly to keep the twins strapped in whilst traveling through London but will also be useful whilst on holiday. So we will most likely have 3 suitcase, a double pushchair (with toddlers strapped in) a couple of rucksacks and a 6 year old.

I am trying to decide on the best way to get from Euston to St Pancras. I believe to get to Euston underground involves escalators which won't be easy. So thinking of walking but how easy will this be through London streets on a Saturday morning with the luggage? Or taxi but would we all fit with the luggage? Any other suggestions?

Walk will be easier even with luggage. It's 10 minutes. Or a black cab

Wowzel · 28/12/2024 09:17

It's an easy walk but I'd be tempted to get a black cab with all the children and luggage

HPandthelastwish · 28/12/2024 09:18

Taxi, or taxi for one parent and suitcases, other parent and DC walk, it'll do them good to stretch their legs and fresh air between a long journey.

tribpot · 28/12/2024 09:19

Definitely not the underground. Agree with previous posters that walk/black cab or some combination is going to be best. What journey have you got at the other end, as that is going to be a lot to deal with if you're going to Paris. Not so bad if Brussels.

Higgledypiggledy864 · 28/12/2024 09:20

I'd get the bus - the 390 or 91 picks up just outside Euston station and will drop you outside St P - it's two stops.

EmotionalSupportBiscuit · 28/12/2024 09:20

You don’t need to bother with the underground, it’s a 10 minute walk all down one street. Pavements are wide for the majority of it; there’s a bit at the end that’s more normal pavement width.

There will be lots of people walking with luggage along the same route.

Or as pp have said get a black cab right outside Euston.

starpatch · 28/12/2024 09:20

Bus would probably be easiest a number of buses go down that road, they accept contactless and if the kids are under 7 can just ride free without a zip oyster.

I travel to and from the Midlands frequently and the train goes to and from St Pancras. Euston is for trains to the north-west. Where are you coming from?

Smallinthesmoke · 28/12/2024 09:22

Definitely not the underground. You'd do as much walking to get to and from the platforms as if you just walked above ground (it's only one stop). With a double buggy all public transport will be tricky so yeah, I'd just walk. Can you manage the suitcases and the buggy?

clary · 28/12/2024 09:22

I would walk tbh. That's quite a bit of luggage tho - three suitcases and two rucksacks? Not sure how you will manage that at all, whatever way you go. Rucksack for each parent, one pushes the pushchair, one holds the 6yo hand and one case... can you pack a little lighter? How long are you going for?

Trains from Brum and Lichfield (for example) go to Euston, tho I agree, we are in the East Mids and go to St Pankers, as does Leicester and Notts.

BlackChunkyBoots · 28/12/2024 09:23

Go out to the Euston Road, turn left, keep walking past the British Library, and you're there.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2024 09:25

Walking by far the easiest

That seems a crazy amount of luggage though. I can’t imagine how it’s going to be possible even getting around the train stations with all that.

crumpet · 28/12/2024 09:25

If you want a slightly quieter route to walk I always go down Phoenix Road rather than the Euston Road. Far less crowded and gets you there just as quickly.

Pleasealexa · 28/12/2024 09:26

3 suitcases might be the biggest issue. Otherwise I would suggest a taxi, but not sure if they would all fit into a black cab?

Can you pack for 2 suitcases?

Eh? Trains to and from The West Midlands go into Euston.

I think op by the time you’ve got all your luggage out to the cab rank, you might as well walk.

Even then you’ll struggle with three cases. Can’t you consolidate into two larger ones??

Mulledjuice · 28/12/2024 09:29

If you decide to get a black cab from euston, the cab rank is on the level below the station concourse - there is a lift to take you down there.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2024 09:30

Depends which bit of the Midlands. I think East Midlands often St Pancras. West usually Euston or Marylebone.

I think the op knows what station she’s going to though eh?

Snowmanscarf · 28/12/2024 09:43

It’s an easy walk and there’ll be lots of people doing the same walk. However, with all that luggage etc, then get a taxi.

Well, quite. I was just replying to somebody else.

MyNewLife2025 · 28/12/2024 09:56

Walk.

I wouldn’t bother with the bus with a double push chair, and so many baggage. Too much stuff.

I would consider reducing the amount of stuff you are taking. It’s going to really hard work just getting around the station from where you leave/arrive, getting up and down the train etc….
Id go two suitcases with wheels (that your dh can drag around in the stations), 2 rucksacks (one for you, one for your dh) and a small rucksack/bad for each child to keep small toys p, cuddly etc… rucksack being easier for the 6yo in particular.

NeddieSeagoonsSteamPoweredTelephone · 28/12/2024 09:57

That is a lot of luggage! Think about how you’ll manage it on the trains. I would definitely be trying to reduce it as much as possible. Then it would make the very easy walk between stations (out of the front of Euston, turn left and keep walking on the same side of the road) your best option. By the time you’ve waited for a cab, loaded up and then unloaded, you could probably have walked it twice. A bit of fresh air between journeys is always nice, too.

DappledThings · 28/12/2024 09:58

Definitely walk. It's not even 10 minutes. The main road won't be too busy and even if it looks like it is there's a quiet way signposted that brings you out down the side of the Crick and to the side entrance of St Pancras.

Edited

It’s Nottingham that I go to, and trains are always St Pancras.
