check your travel insurance, you might not be covered if there's a red alert in place when you travel

Tulip8 · 05/11/2024 13:04

I mean, it's not the smartest idea is it?

drivinmecrazy · 05/11/2024 13:05

Not sure where you're seeing the red warning??

Beethovensafari · 05/11/2024 13:06

The airport is flooded and flights were being diverted. Check with your airline.

Barcelona is far far way from Valencia

There's severe rain in Barcelona, or was yesterday.

And the airport has been flooded and shut at points!

As I said earlier

The airport has been shut. Not sure why you are getting such sarky replies.

eurochick · 05/11/2024 13:10

Will travel insurance cover you if you do go?

I've seen the pictures of the flooded airport on the news. I don't think I would risk trying to fly there.

Oops u did 😄...just reinforcing your point

drivinmecrazy · 05/11/2024 13:11

It's the time of year for heavy rains.
So you take your chances.
It's no worse in Barcelona than it would be at the same time any year. Generally towns flood and recover very quickly.

My mums. Town was hit by heavy flooding the other day yet it's functioning fine today.

It's expected weather for this time of year for much of Spain

Scaremongering!!!

I think it should be fine. It looks like the airport is operational again, no further flight delays and no weather warnings.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 05/11/2024 13:15

OP I’ travelling Saturday -just grateful the disruption was earlier this week as is now sorted.

Beethovensafari · 05/11/2024 13:15

I was just going off footage on the news this morning and that a friend's flight was diverted last night. I did suggest that op check with her airline.

Don't see how that's scaremongering.

It clearly was since a quick check showed that it was nonsense.

swiftieswoop · 05/11/2024 13:28

I would check with the place you're staying as the clean up could take a long time.

MrsCarson · 05/11/2024 14:02

My cousin works in the Airport in Barcelona, she sent us pics and video of the flooding, the airport terminal was flooded, and everyone was paddling about at check in. She took more video on the way home, took ages to get there and the motorway was under water in spots with abandoned cars up to their roofs.
I just hope it drains away quickly.

eurochick · 05/11/2024 15:49

You might want to take wellies for the airport...

Its been way over dramatised. There was a bit of flooding yesterday. All gone now. Airport is open and running normally as is public transport. It's warm and.sunny in the day. (Chilly at night) I'm visiting for a few days

You honestly wouldn't know it even happened
