What to take to Center Parcs?

vanillafudgecake · 10/02/2024 22:46

I'm heading to Center Parcs next week with family, for what will be our first time.

We've booked a 4 bedroom executive lodge and will mainly eat in. We have a couple of restaurant reservations for evening meals and a few activities booked across the week. We will utilise the swimming/playgrounds and cycling the rest of the time.

What items will be useful to take?
Anything in particular the lodges lack?

All info/tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks 😊

Cleaning products and dishwasher tabs. Toilet roll. There's nothing in the lodges.

Nottogetapenny · 10/02/2024 23:02

Food, salt, pepper, sugar, sauces, drinks, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, disposable bbq, fibre logs for fire, bags for wet swim wear, kitchen foil, kitchen roll, wellies, toiletries

Nottogetapenny · 10/02/2024 23:06

Towels for swimming, foil cooking dishes (saves washing oven dishes)

HNY2023 · 10/02/2024 23:06

Toilet roll, black bin bags, dishwasher tablets, cleaning cloths, tea towels

We take gusto or hello fresh delivery so you have everything for dinner if cooking

Jayinthetub · 11/02/2024 00:17

Wooden spoon for cooking!! They never have one. We love CP and never even book activities and really just swim and walk. You'll have a lovely week. Enjoy Smile

Extra peanut butter and a sack of cheap oats to feed the squirrels/ducks/deer etc that come up to your patio door hoping for handouts...

TomeTome · 11/02/2024 01:08

A huge cake.doughnuts fruit
cheese and biscuits
booze and snacks
dishwasher tablets
easy meals in foil trays for the oven

Love center parcs but the pans are never very big. If you want to do a big fry up or cook a stew then I'd take your own pans.
We always have a ikea bags for the stsp - so easy to throw shoes coats in and squeeze into the locker.
Microfleece towels - so much easier to carry around.

TomeTome · 12/02/2024 16:22

That’s a thought, though for me it’s my own sharp knife dh brings his coffee machine which makes me laugh but honestly is really great!

Mynewnameis · 12/02/2024 16:25

We had plenty of dishwasher tabs etc.
Definitely take bird food and at longleat cat food for the beautiful ferral kittens 😸

Swim towels . Robes are best
Wet weather gear and umbrella
Take heavy shopping so you can pick up treats at parc Market.

Following with interest as we’re going later this year.

Nottogetapenny · 12/02/2024 19:31

Also use lockers at the pool, to keep belongings in, instead of carrying them around when going to activities! Collect them later.

stockpilingallthecheese · 12/02/2024 20:14

I've been loads most recently a few weeks ago and agree with dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid for sure!

The onsite supermarket is great and not ridiculously expensive, like a coop. So no need to shop for your full week in advance. We usually just take stuff for a couple of breakfasts, tea and coffee stuff, loads of wine Grin and snacks.

If you're taking a baby and using their cots you need bedding.

Backpacks for carrying your swim stuff or whatever you need for activities around with you, especially if you've got bikes. Swim towels.

Have a great time, I love CP!

I brought my air fryer when I went last year!

Heatherbell1978 · 12/02/2024 20:22

We're regulars and always do a click and collect shop on the way. Knives, salt, pepper, oil, extra tea towels, loo roll, dishwasher tabs. We put in a clothes drying rack to hang wet swimsuits (have one that packs flat in the boot) and bring own towels for pool.

newandconfused5 · 12/02/2024 20:24

Bird seed so you can watch the wildlife

Penguinpairs · 12/02/2024 20:45

Don't plan to make any meals that need oven cooking. The ovens are awful, everything takes 2-3 times as long to cook as it should.

Pack a grater and bin bags

When you check in ask for an extra wristband (it acts as your lodge key), makes swimming so much easier having a locker solely for winter coats etc

BlackBoxes · 16/02/2024 18:29

Take monkey nuts, lots of wildlife enjoy them and will sit outside your lodge nibbling through the shells.
I used to take M&S easy to cook food as the kitchen really isn’t up to much else.
My top tip is to go swimming on day one as soon as you arrive. Then go for a late lunch/early dinner so you don’t have to cook. Then walk to the lodge and send one person to get the car once the rush has died down.

Clearinguptheclutter · 16/02/2024 18:31

Decent knives

bird food for the visitors.

Gazelda · 16/02/2024 19:28

Is the coffee machine in the exec lodges a Tassimo?

StrawberryPavlova · 16/02/2024 21:38

Is the coffee machine in the exec lodges a Tassimo?

Yes, pretty much all lodges have a Tassimo in now.

Bunnycat101 · 17/02/2024 20:34

We went for the first time last year and ended up buying a fair amount from the shop and that was fine- it’s well stocked and didn’t seem outrageous. Only thing I wish I’d had with me was a decent non-stick pan and a throw for the sofa.

You only get tiny sachets of washing up liquid so definitely worth taking extra washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc and also hand soup.

Garlickit · 17/02/2024 20:36

A booking at a good hotel 😂

Air fryer's a good idea.

PolarStar · 17/02/2024 20:40

I'm planning to take my Amazon firestick next time we go, the TV's at Woburn are freeview only.
