Quirky Quarter
The Albert Dock
The museum of Liverpool
Knowsley safari park is free for kids over half-term I think.
See a show at the Empire or Royal court theatre.
Climb the tower of the Anglican Cathedral
Ferry across to Seaforth then go to Eureka!
LFC stadium tour
The Beatles museum
Open top bus tour
The western approaches WW2 museum

'Williamson Tunnels' are quite interesting! Only takes an hour or so to look round. Cheap and quirky.
The Bombed out Church is worth a visit.
As is Sefton Park. The area around Sefton Park is lovely. There's a beautiful street there just leading up to the park, I've forgotten it's name but it's a lovely place to just wander about and have a coffee.
I also think the Tate Modern in Liverpool and the Bluecoat galleries are always worth a visit. Good for kids too.. free and interesting modern art.

Avoid the McDonalds in the centre. Gangs of kids in balaclavas as it gets dark all around there. There's a reason they've brought in extra security measures.

Findyourneutralspace · 06/10/2023 01:26

They sometimes have outdoor cinema events in the bombed out church. DS and I went in the summer so it’s worth seeing if there’s anything on while you’re there.

Shopping in L1.

Ferry across the Mersey

My two go mad for Pie Minister in Bold Street for somewhere to eat

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 03:42

Moose coffee for pancakes. Most of the museums are free.

Bbq1 · 06/10/2023 05:34

Just place marking. I used to live there and want to take DD soon but it's been years so I don't know anything any more.

There was a brilliant thread a few months the back that would be worth checking out

Lark Lane! Not been in years but used to be great for a wander and bite to eat.

www.arcains.co.uk/ good for kids including big kids.

Thank you everyone, lots to choose from. We might have to do a second trip to catch everything.

Bold street for some cool independent shops and then continue up to Berry street to Mei Mei for their excellent dim sum. Keep walking up Hardman street, past the bombed out church, and from there you can check out the cool interior of the philharmonic dining rooms, go to a concert at the Liverpool Phil or turn right or left to visit one of the cathedrals.

southlondoner02 · 06/10/2023 06:45

We did this recently for a similar length of time.
Went up the tower of the Anglican cathedral,
had a look in the bombed out church after lunch on bold st
Went in the cavern one afternoon to watch live music
Out to Crosby beach to see the Antony Gormley's
Ferry across the Mersey
Liverpool museum

Had a brilliant time!

Loads to see and do, even has a few beaches!

We have a lot of beautiful beaches across Merseyside.

Assuming it's the same week as local half term there is also a light display on across Liverpool

Crosby Beach a must

Hedonism · 19/10/2023 22:10

Sounds like there is loads to do! Any recommendations for family hotels?

Funf · 21/10/2023 19:49

Premier Inn at Rainhill, its a 20 -25 min drive to the city centre but usually cheaper and near Knowsley Safari park should you fancy it?

Liverpool is usually great value but try to avoid when big concerts and football matches are on as the city centre places really inflate the prices

Home

Warmly welcoming visitors for over 50 years. A stunning five mile safari drive, foot safari, events and talks on a wide variety of animals.

Sefton Park and Calderstones park are lovely. As someone else has mentioned, Lark Lane just outside Sefton Park has a really nice feel to it for a coffee/lunch/tea etc.

The Museums are free

It’d be worth a look around The Albert Dock, lots to do around there and you’ll find a lot of The Beatles stuff around there too along with Matthew Street.

Bold Street has some really quirky independent shops and lots of restaurants.

If you’re there at the weekend, stay away from the McDonalds at the top corner of Church Street near to Liverpool Central station-I took my 4 year old in for a wee a couple of weeks ago and it honestly felt like I’d walked into lunchtime in a secondary school. The one near Liverpool one is better during the day.

If the weather is nice, it’s definitely worth a trip on the Ferry, there’s a nice walk up to New Brighton and there’s also Eureka Science Museum inside the terminal over on The Wirral side.

Knowsley Safari is free for children during half term but it’s quite a way out of the city centre and you’d probably need a car.

We always enjoy Croxteth Park farm, but again, you’d probably need a car to get there or at least a taxi from the City Centre. There isn’t a train station nearby. You could get the bus, (which would be absolutely fine but some people would probably say to avoid the areas it goes through).

I hope you have a lovely time! I love living here!
