How about a mumsnet houseswap thread?

I housesat for someone last year and we really enjoyed it - free holiday in a proper house!
Wondered if there was any mileage in a mumsnet house swap board, since hols are so expensive with kids, and since each others houses would have TOYS and maybe baby equipment already there?

Would anyone really want to come to Stoke?

Rhubarb · 01/03/2008 18:42

Carlisle? Little rural village with local pub just 3 doors away. 10mins from city centre but also 10mins to rural tranquility. Half an hour from Keswick for exploring the Lakes. 20mins from Gretna.

2 bedroomed cottagey-type house, no central heating, but electric heaters in most rooms and real fire in living room.

Any offers?

Hellish -would 4 bed semi in nottingham do - very interested in canada for school summer hols 2009.

In theory, it'd be great. And I live in a lovely town very popular with tourists and near loads of beautiful places.

But it would take me about a year to get my house fit for anybody else to stay in

hellish I have a 4 bed house in the Midlands and am an experienced home swapper. I would be interested in house swap next summer because we have an application in for Canadian residents visas. Don't want to give out too many personal details on this thread though.

Nemoandthefishes · 01/03/2008 22:33

I would swap but doubt anyone would want our house..lol
Small 3 bed semi 20 mins drive from liverpool city centre has back garden with tons of kids toys..whole house has tons of kids toys.
We have beds for 2 adults a full size single bed and 2 toddler beds that would take kids up to around age 5/6 and a travel cot if you needed it.

Wisteria · 01/03/2008 22:35

I would love a house swap this summer and think a thread like this is a fine idea

We have a 4 bed detached house on Notts/ Derbys border, 5 mins from M1 with great tourist attractions within a short drive - dogs welcome as long as we can take ours too - ideally wanting something in Wales for a week or two [looking hopeful emoticon]

thritbies · 01/03/2008 22:50

We are in Cheadle (Stockport), with a 3 bed semi and large back garden with trampoline. Have also got an extra 5 spare beds ie ready bed, sofa bed types. Conveniently situated for motorways and major routes to attractions lol!

(well we like it here )
