Hidden gem service stations and stop offs between Birmingham and Scottish Borders

We are heading to the Scottish Borders from Birmingham for a long weekend. Can anyone recommend any hidden gem services, stop-offs or must-sees en route to break up the journey? DCs are 8 and 5.
TIA

Tabley House, near Knutsford services on the M6. It's a stately home with a lovely tearoom and nice walks. Million times better than the services.

Another vote for Tebay & Rheghed in Lake District - was sad when Karma Lama closed

We have done a similar journey and stopped at Barton Grange Garden Centre just north of Preston. It's on the A6 and has a fab cafe and farm shop and also entertainment like bowling and curling

The best known I'm aware of is Tebay Services which is lovely.

A bit close to home, but if you come off the M6 at junction 13 follow the first sign for Stafford and then turn left almost immediately as you coms off the roundabout is Catch corner, it's not a service station but has a McDonalds and a pub with a Wacky Wearhouse.
