Thinking of going on a cottage break in Sept to north wales - 2 adults and 20 month old. We like walking, beaches etc. where are the best areas to stay?

How do I get my Keyboard to do the little extra above the Y as I would like to write it correctly?

On an iPhone (possibly other phones too- I’ve only got an iPhone) you can just hold down the y and the option will appear above it.

On a computer you can go to insert symbol on word or type in codes and press the alt key. However, there’s an easier way- download free software called ‘To Bach’ and after you’ve installed it, you just press Alt gr the same time as you press the letter.

TÅ· Coch Inn
TÅ· Coch inn, Porthdinllaen, Morfa Nefyn, Gwynedd
Great location, so great in fact that it tends to get booked up a year or so in advance; worth a try though and definitely worth a gander!

If you like walking then I would head for Anglesey. The coastal path is just so beautiful. There are many, many wonderful beaches, and many of them are unspoilt and uncrowded. I love Rhosneiger, but would also thoroughly recommend Newborough (very easy plentiful parking), Cemaes, Lligwy, Moelfre. If you like a 'traditional holiday' then Benllech is a good bet - nice fish and chip shops, but a bit busier than some of the others mentioned.

The Llyn Peninsula is also really lovely, but so crowded in the Summer that we just don't go there. You should be ok in September though.

Comwy is lovely. Llandudno has managed to keep most of it's charm despite it's size and popularity. The Great Orme is fantastic for walking and the views are incredible.

Porthmadog/ Black Rosk Sands? Morfa Bychan are more traditional seaside spots and are very nice.

Harlech and Criccieth are also really lovely and both castles are well worth a visit.

You really will be spoilt for choice with beaches and walking spots if you head to anywhere West of Llandudno/ Comwy. Sorry, but I am not a fan of the coastal spots on the North East coast.

We stayed in a cottage in Yi Felinheli near Bangor which overlooked the Menai Straits. We found it a great base for Snowdonia & Angelsey. Also visited Llandudno & Portmeirion while we were there. Loved the area and would definitely go back. So much to do.

I am truly amazed that no one has mentioned Abersoch! Round here its known as the Cheshire set place to go. I was ready for replying to a post recommending it that yes it's nice, but I don't see the hype. But evidently wise MNetters already know that Grin

Llandudno is lovely if you want a traditional British seaside town without the tat. It has a pier with children's fair ground rides tram, cable car, Great Orme, Promenade, Punch and Judy, boat rides, 2 beaches, paddling pool and is mostly flat - apart from the Ormes. Finding a cottage in the town itself may be difficult though as it's mostly hotels, b&bs and apartments. So you may find yourselves staying outside the town and having to travel in.

Anglesey has some beautiful beaches but is much more rural. But there will be plenty of holiday cottages, but you will likely be travelling longer distances if you want to do things other than the beach.

@Holidayaddict that sounds perfect! Could you please share a link to the cottage?

Holidayaddict · 27/07/2022 09:35

@countdowntonap of course. Here you go.
