Yorkshire suggestions from Scarborough

We are heading to Yorkshire in the summer; just outside Scarborough. Can people give me good advice on what to do? Older children, 10 and up. Need a mix of outdoors and general Yorkshire brilliance (beaches, places to eat for veggies, things to do)

On the list is:
A day in York (and recommdations?)
Steam train over the moors to whitby
Robin Bay
Segway in forest, (can't remember it's name but we can do it locally to where we live do can skip. We've done lots of high ropes so probably not interested in this).
I'm also looking for a good 3-4 hour walk; family tradition that despite the moaning, everyone secretly really enjoys!

We have done several Treasure Trail walks around that area. Always enjoyed them. Can't work out how to do links, but Google treasure trail walks!
