Best London Premier Inn for Family Stay

Looking at going to London next year with DH and 8 year old son. Can anyone recommend a good central Premier Inn to stay at for a few nights. Access to standard/chain restaurants and near a tube stop on a good link for sights/museums etc. Thanks

The one at St Pancras is our go to! Across the road from the station and Tube. Lovely staff. Always had a good stay and very handy for getting around

There’s restaurant called Pizza Union within walking distance that does amazing and very cheap pizzas. A few chain restaurants nearby too.

County Hall - very central, right under the London eye!
We stayed there in July in a family room, it was great.

Ahh thanks will look at them tomorrow for prices

I think County Hall is probably the best option. I also like Premier Inn hubs which are much newer and cheaoer but I'm not sure if they do family rooms. The ones at Westminister Abbey or Covent Garden are the best placed for sightseeing.

Wandsworth, over a big Sainsbury's, opposite the shopping centre. Fab staff and so helpful when we stayed recently

County hall or the Tate modern

My god the location and the staff at the Tate modern blew me away
Just heaven xx

Personally I always go for the one at Stratford - it's in the Westfield Centre. Yes it is far out but it is on top of the centre so it is very quiet and we always spend the day in the city and then travel back and have dinner in the centre then pop straight up the lift to the room. It is cheaper too, a lot cheaper in summer.

We stayed at Southwark Station Premier Inn a week or so ago. 2 adults and DS6 in a family room. I thought it was fab. Well placed for wandering around South Bank, close to Southwark underground and Waterloo. V handy for getting to NHM/Science Museums. £200 for two nights inc breakfast (which my son absolutely loved).

Geamhradh · 07/09/2021 22:45

I like the one at the side of Westfield Stratford. Have also repeat stayed at Southwark and Greenwich.
All three tend to be that bit cheaper than the central-central ones but are still no more than a few tube stops.

Just search London and look at prices/location. I booked for St Pancras next week just this afternoon and it was £86 compared with £142 for Kings Cross. They are literally a 4 minute walk apart.

It can vary massively though, I have stayed in a few but I would say don't stay at Victoria. It's the pits.

Hubs would not do, so be careful not to book one by mistake as they are tiny.

Also pay upfront if you can as it's cheaper and while you can't cancel you can change the dates up until 1pm on your day of arrival.

When you are searching I would look for one that shows 'new rooms' - a lot of the older ones are in need of a good refresh.

I like St Pancras but sometimes go for Soujth Kensington (Earls Court) if it’s cheaper.

ACloseMatch · 07/09/2021 22:51

Friends of ours stay at County Hall whenever they come down. You can't get a better location surely!

WouldBeGood · 07/09/2021 22:57

I suppose I choose st Pancras as it’s near Euston where the train from Glasgow gets in 😊

Euston is closer!
ANameChangeAgain · 07/09/2021 23:01

I liked the St Pancras one too. Walking distance from the station, near to a Prezzo.

katemuff · 07/09/2021 23:05

I should say we stay at kings cross when we get the train and Westfield when we drive as it's £10 for 24hrs :)

careerchangeperhaps · 07/09/2021 23:06

We usually stay a little further out as it's massively cheaper and nice to eat out in a quieter area in an evening (still with good Tube links though).
Try Stratford, Hammersmith, Ealing, Wembley, Docklands etc.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 07/09/2021 23:08

I really like the Farringdon one- it's in the city so really quiet on weekends but Farringdon itself has a 'village' feel with restaurants etc and it's near a couple of tube stations and walkable to the Tate. It's quite new so really nice inside.

Comefromaway · 08/09/2021 00:23

I stayed at Euston recently and it’s not as nice as St Pancras.

yoshiblue · 08/09/2021 07:28

Thanks all I'll price up the options today. Really appreciate your help!

I've stayed at a few over the years for work, though mainly Hub ones which was fine on my own.

Have a look at the travel lodge Waterloo. Just had a huge million pound makeover. Some friends stayed there over the summer. £49 for a family room!

DaisyDozyDee · 08/09/2021 07:55

We do the Farringdon one. It’s often cheap and we like being so close to St Paul’s and the Millenium Bridge. Loads of good transport options too.

hanahsaunt · 08/09/2021 07:59

I can second Southwark Station - brilliant location with a two minute walk to the tube and a four minute walk to Waterloo station which opens up all sorts of options. Loads within walking distance but v central for main sights.

Teenagers2grownups0 · 08/09/2021 08:05

We have stayed at the County Hall one which is great. Also stayed at the Leicester Square one which was good but not purpose built so not sure if they do family rooms, we stayed as two of us and were most confused when the bathroom was in a different corner of the room than expected Grin. Leicester Square is also a brilliant location, possibly better than County Hall.
