mother and teen DD spa weekend - where's good?

Hi, it's looking unlikely we're getting away and I need to do something, as does my DD. I'm thinking a lovely spa weekend might be a good idea. Any recommendations?

From a recent experience trying to book something for my wedding anniversary, I’d say book anywhere you can make a reservation! We started off with a very aspirational list, and ended up booking the only place with space. Everywhere is very busy atm.

New forest- Carey’s manor or limewood. There is also Chewton Glen but prefer the other 2.

bassackwards · 23/07/2021 20:22

Sopwell House in St Albans, it newly refurbed and I loved the treatments when I went!

mummyh2016 · 23/07/2021 20:28

Another vote for Cheshire oaks. Or carden park in Chester.

mummyh2016 · 23/07/2021 20:28

Not Cheshire oaks, god knows where that came from!! Moddershall oaks I meant!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 23/07/2021 20:49

Eastwell Manor?

Namechangedzzz · 23/07/2021 20:53

My godmother adores Ragdale hall so mine would be another vote for them. I haven't been but she loves it.

Penguin81 · 23/07/2021 20:55

can I ask how old your DD is? I would love to take mine to a spa, though the ones which I have said that she was too young

tootingbeclido · 23/07/2021 21:02

@Penguin81 centre Parcs are age 14 if that helps

ruthieness · 23/07/2021 21:51

@ruthieness thanks thats a good hint you've given me.

There are so many places that have been recommended that i'd love to go to! Now to decide & find an available date! Ragdale hall seems to have the most votes thus far....

A number of them have a minimum age eg Ragdale is 16. The destination spas are every bit as busy as center parcs spa, but I think they’re all on reduced numbers at the moment

Ok. .I looked at some online reviews recently and they were quite mixed so I would probably still avoid
BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 24/07/2021 08:12

Have a look at q hotels

My favourite spas are in the Lake District but I think that's a bit far from what you've said

crumpet · 24/07/2021 08:20

Lucknam Park. They have an equestrian centre too if a ride around the estate would appeal.

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 24/07/2021 18:03

@BungleandGeorge thank you I hadn't thought of minimum age requirements!

It's possibly a bit too near to you but the Grove has a lovely spa and outdoor walled garden. Don't be put off by the proximity to Watford, it has lovely grounds. Also good for celeb spotting and the England football team stay there.

Stoke Park also has a lovely spa and in beautiful grounds. I haven't stayed over there but I've had afternoon tea and a spa day which was fantastic. The Grove spa is bigger though.

My DD and I recently went to Senspa at Carey’s Manor Hotel, Brockenhurst, in the New Forest. Beautiful surroundings and amazing facilities. DD loved it.

@Whattodonow6322

Ragdale hall is amazing!
Yes can on to say this! I have been to Eden Hall (which I love, but it's just a day spa) a lot but know many people who say Ragdale is a different league. I have not been but wish I could!!
Zhx3 · 29/07/2021 15:27

I really like Sopwell House in St. Albans. Nice pool and facilities and very nice buffet!

And one of my favourites, although I'll have to wait until dd is 16 to take her, is the Spa by Kasia at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, just outside of Chester. I haven't stayed at the hotel but the Spa is wonderful.

FrankiesKnuckle · 29/07/2021 15:40

Another vote for whittlebury hall, they don't allow children in the spa but I think the cut odd age for that is 12. (I could be wrong)
For luxury, Alexander house hotel in West Sussex.
