Special London lunch ideas please

Looking for somewhere for a special but not wanky lunch in central London for dp and I. I've been wondering about Dans le Noir or maybe Clos Maggiore, having read previous threads on here. We are very down to earth and wouldn't be at all comfortable in anywhere posh, but do like really good food.

Open to any ideas really, but I'm a vegetarian so places like St John and Hawksmoor unlikely to be much good to us. Up to around £50 a head, unless a real 'experience' (ie like Dans le Noir).

Huge thanks in advance!

Noppi is fab, but there is an emphasis on sharing plates. Not obligatory, but the menu leans towards it.

Thank you. I was just looking at Berners Tavern too.

We went to the National Portrait Gallery. Very reasonable 3 course menu, very good food and amazing view out over the roof tops of Travalgar Square etc. I think it is unusual to get a view when in a dining room in London so it felt special. Afterwards we walked through the Gallery feeling very cultured and a bit pious and then got the worst bout of giggles at some of the fashion moments of past centuries .....Blush Grin). I had a great time.

Thanks. Their veggie set menu isn't very exciting though.

I hated Murano, they were polite to us until some more affluent-looking people came in and then we might as well have been invisible.

How about the Cinnamon Club? Good for veggies and a well-priced set menu at lunchtime. Or The Ninth is great.
