Where are your favourite places to see/visit in WALES?

DH and I are planning to "do" Wales (as the Americans say)

I have visited a bit of North Wales but would love to explore the whole country more

We don't need accommodation as we will be in our Motorhome and will be using a mixture of Britstops and Campsites

We have a dog so dog friendly beaches would be great

So any beautiful places to see and also places to avoid

North Pembrokeshire between Whitesands (you could camp there but dogs are banned) and Goodwick if you like walking. There are stunning views from Strumble Head light house.

Aberystwyth! A beautiful place that's close to my heart.

They have lots of beach space and one that is for dogs. Constitution hill is a nice walk to get fab views of the area and maybe a coffee at the top. There is a tram up if you can't walk which is a bit of fun.

You can get a steam train out to Devils Bridge for a nice walk around a waterfall if you fancy it. Not sure about the dog for that though...

Rhossili, Three Cliffs and the Gower coast.

The Elan Valley.

Llangrannog and Ceredigion.

Brecon Beacons, crickhowell and Hay on Wye. Stunning area

I'd love to go back to the big pit mining museum...I loved it there! And the Brecon beacons are really beautiful.

Barafundle Bay in Pembrokeshire is just perfect. Also love Freshwater West and also East, Tenby is a lovely town, Pembroke Castle is amazing, Manorbier, Stackpole.

We love snowdonia, I love the rugged wilderness aspect to it, favourite places are Bala (beautiful lake), Llandegla forest (walks in pine forest and amazing mountain biking) and white water rafting is amazing round there too!

Brecon beacons. Stunning waterfalls to be seen. There is a place there called the national show caves. Well worth a visit

I'm from Pembrokeshire and everywhere @PiggeryPorcombe says are musts. I would add Bosherston Lilly Ponds too.

Ynyslas sands near Aberystwyth is an amazing blend of haunting and picturesque; great for dogs too.

The castles are all gorgeous - Conway, Harlech and Castell Carreg Cennen in particular.

Abersoch is absolutely gorgeous, one of my favourite places

Gower is absolutely beautiful. Sunset over Rhossili is hard to beat.

Was going to suggest Portmeirion, where The Prisoner was filmed. Completely bonkers and lots of nice walks in the surrounding countryside - but just noticed that you can't take your dogs in.

Gower - Three Cliffs, Rhossili, Port Eynon for fish and chips on the sand

The mountains - the Beacons are close to me so easy to get to for walking but Snowdonia - wow , it’s just stunning, the mountains and the coastline are so beautiful. Llyn Idwal is a stunning walk, and around Beddgelert

Bluestone if you are staying in Pembrokeshire. Barafundle is another beauty

Big Pit is fascinating I agree - and free!

Cardiff for city life

For waterfalls - head to the Neath valley. You can walk behind the falls at Henrhyd and Sgyd yr Eira although both involve a slippery walk down (and back up )

I have ordered some brochures from visit Wales this afternoon - weirdly they only have a few in paper versions

The others I will download onto iPad but the battery keeps wearing down hence why paper versions work better for us

You guys have given so many different options - not sure how long we will go for but think about 3 to 4 weeks so we have time to see everything and explore without rushing

Tenby in the south is lovely.

The west coast is lovely also -Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Etc

Another vote for the Gower and Rhosilli bay. There is a good campsite called Three Cliffs bay.

The Dyfi Osprey Project just outside Machynlleth, northwest Wales.
Beautiful observatory to see ospreys in the wild raising their chicks. Look through powerful binoculars or via amazing nest camera

Near Cardiff (West) there is the Welsh Folk Museum at Saint Fagans. That's a great day out. Whatever you do, don't go to Barry Island, it's downright depressing.
Always was, even in the 80s when I was a child living near there!

Definitely Gower, it's very dog friendly, absolutely beautiful beaches and walks. I'd allow a few days and stay near several different beaches.
