Whereabouts in North Norfolk?

I know MN is very keen on North Norfolk so I've finally decided to give it a punt for this summer. I've left it a bit late, but I've found a few suitable places in a variety of places on the coast.

So where would you recommend, near a beach, maybe rockpools, not too big, not too small, couple of nice pubs and a cafe and a shop so we're not committed to getting in the car to go anywhere? DC are 12 and 14 but easily pleased by beaches, icecream, rockpools and baby seals.

Wells is lovely. I like Sheringham and Cromer too.

I was also going to say Wells! It's got a great beach, a stinky swamp and a small tourist train. What more could you want

Wells is lovely but gets very very busy and is pricey. Sheringham is less well known and has some great attractions and Brancaster is also a good bet. Hunstanton is about 30 minutes away from Brancaster for the more arcadey, naff seaside experience and it's also easy to access Wells, Cromer etc. for crabbing and tasteful shops.

Actually all the other suggestions are good too.

No rockpools in Cromer. Or Sheringham.

I can only think of Hunstanton for rockpools. My teens can find more to do in Sheringham.

Mundersley iis a great little village, Nice beach, pubs and a few shops.

Wells does get very crowded, I prefer Sheringham or Cromer

Ah Sunny Hunny, this thread is making me homesick! If you want the full 2p machine arcade experience you can't go wrong with Hunstanton.

Holme beach is also lovely (which is near Hunstanton).

West Runton has great rock pools.

Another vote for Wells Next The Sea. Fantastic beach, harbour and lovely little shops and cafes. My 2 love to spend hours crabbing in the harbour and have never grown out of it.

Also old Hunstanton is very nice and you can easily get to the newer bit for a bit of seaside tackiness if you want it.

Sheringham does have rock pools - but only at low tide. (I'm from Sheringham!). It also has an indoor swimming pool. Train or bus to Cromer for cinema, clifftop walks. Cracking ice cream shops, plenty of cafés.

Sea palling, Happisburgh, Walcott, Bacton, Mundesley, Trimingham, Overstrand, Cromer, Sheringham, Hunstanton, Stiffkey, Wells, Holkham. All great places to visit along the North Norfolk coast.

Mind you, Neil Oliver's on the telly at the mo and the Gower Peninsula is looking lovely...,

Brancaster, Holkham, Sheringham, Cromer. Snettisham & Heacham are lovely too, with smaller beaches & slightly less well known, so not as busy, but still very close to Hunstanton for the arcades etc, also close to sandringham, which is absolutely lovely for walks etc!

Heacham and Snettisham beach are a bit muddy .. Lots of ducks in Heacham though.

Love wells but no rock pools. Take a car and it's less than an hour to sunny hunny.

Felbrigg hall has a super garden.

Whin hill cider company in wells is super, is off a v unpromising car park.

Kids (and grown ups) will probably love the steam railway that ends in sheringham.

The whole area is gorgeous.

Mundesley is horrible.

Why is it horrible? I like Mundersley.

I have been to Great Yarmouth. I like the full-on British seaside bucket and spade candy floss and Kiss Me Quick experience for a day trip, but I definitely want somewhere quieter to actually stay for a week.

I believe that starfish may possibly be engaging in a cunning wheeze to keep Mundesley all for herself.
