Blackpool or Lytham St Anne's hotels

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Blackpool or Lytham area for a couple of nights at October half term? On the seafront would be nice, but equally don't mind staying somewhere a couple of miles out and driving in. The only real requirement is for a family room for me and my DDs, aged 15 and 12.

Dalmeny is a good family hotel

We stayed in The Cliffs hotel on Blackpool seafront a few years ago. It was really great for families with a pool and entertainment and the food was excellent - great choices every night and always plenty of everything even though the hotel was really busy

We like the Grand Hotel in St Annes :)

I live locally, and as PPs have said,
The Dalmeny and The Grand are always popular.
The Inn on the Prom looks good too. I think all have swimming pools, and of all these are on the same stretch of St Annes prom.
5-10 minutes walk into the centre, there's loads of good places to eat on Wood Street.
Lytham only really has the Clifton Arms Hotel, which is good, but pricey. Other than that, there's the Queens pub near the windmill, which has rooms.

Actually, forget The Queens, don't think they have family rooms (really good food though!)

Just stayed at the Mornington Hotel, Station Road, Blackpool (next to Pleasure Beach/South Pier at end of street) was the cleanest hotel we have stayed at in Blackpool (we normally go to Travelodge but this had good reviews on Trip Advisor) they do family rooms too. I also managed to get my car parked across the road for free too.

Have you noticed I haven't mentioned Blackpool!! If you're planning on going to Blackpool, it's fine for the day, but would really recommend staying in Lytham or
St Annes - it's a 15 min drive, and would be a much nicer experience!

Yep - fairly local too and I'd choose St Anne's or Lytham (they are two different places) over Blackpool any day.

I have not been there for a couple of years but we found The Big Blue was always very nice .

Avoid the Derby Lodge hotel on Derby Rd in Blackpool like the plague! Used to live next to it and the owners are absolutely bat shit, it's filthy and the police are ALWAYS there. Should have been shut down by now tbh

I now want to drive past the Derby Lodge tomorrow!

If you prefer budget for the hotel as you may not be in much, there is now a Travelodge in St Annes. It is above M&S on the main road so easy to get buses to Blackpool, Lytham or Preston

As others have said The Dalmeny is well known as a family hotel and has good facilities, children's activities, etc.

If you want inland a bit look at Ribby Hall. It is a few miles out but has a lot going on there and still easy travelling to the coast

Honestly the woman is crazy! When I was pregnant with DD she made complaints about the toilet flushing in the night and said that MY dogs were causing hers to bark (my dogs made no noise they were lazy sleepy puppies) and then she told me I was lying about being pregnant (with a large six month bump in front of her) the police used to come around have a brew and laugh!

Ribby is just round the corner from me - call in for a brew

Also try the Glendower, inn on the prom and st ives, all st annes
Don't stay in Blackpool
Come to st Anne's, its much nicer :)

Agree with the others that I wouldn't recommend staying too close to Blackpool seafront. Blackpool is well used by night-clubbing and hen/stag parties so not particularly family friendly.
We have stayed at local Premier Inns at this time of year. Preston West on Blackpool road on the outskirts of Preston and Blackpool East (M55 jct 4).
October half term is the Blackpool illuminations so closer hotels can either be booked up or charge high rates.

I came on to say the Dalmeny but see that it is fully booked.
You could try the Anchorage at St Annes?
It is only a BandB but my friend says the owners are lovely and the breakfasts were great.

We are in lytham visiting family and have eaten at The Queens . The brochure for the room looks fab. Great location and right near lytham windmill. ! I'd give them a call . I was tempted myself 😆

Radyward - The Queens was my local from way back in the early 80s. Very different to how it is now. It's always been a well-loved pub, but the rooms above were never really used to their full potential- it looks they are now. Lytham needs more accommodation!

We stayed at one on the sea front. Think it was St Anne's. Had a pool, soft play and they did kids entertainment in the summer holidays. Off to check the name.

I really liked the Norbreck Castle when we stayed, but it has been about 10 years since.
