A bleating wedding/hotel type question, anyone got any bright ideas? Bath or nearby ideally.

We're finally getting married on a Friday in December. We could move it but have booked it and I really just want to get on and be married, we agreed to do it 5 years ago so it's just getting ridiculous. Anyway, I don't know what to do about afterwards. We're only inviting 12 adults and 13 children (2 of them tiny babies less than 2 months old) and therefore a restaurant is out of the question for afterwards (reg office) unless we have the whole place since the 2/3 yos cannot be relied upon to behave and it will be a nightmare. So what should we do? All the decent hotels are fully booked (Bath Spa, Babington, Cotswold House), we could go back to Bristol but that seems a pain. OR we could do tea somewhere in Bath, come back to Bristol, put all the children to bed and then all the adults could go out in the evening in Bristol. Help! Where is there in Bath? Most function rooms are too big, I guess I want somewhere with squishy sofas that will sell us tea and crumpets and Champagne from 3.30pm - 5ish and then we'd leave.

Any advice welcome. I really don't want to cancel it and realise it's a stupid time of year to get married but I really want to do it that day. We could travel up to half an hour out of Bath, ideally in Bristol direction after the ceremony.

Also, Bath Racecourse:

They have smaller function suites to suit your numbers and i'm sure they could cater for you too.

Beechfield House in Melksham, been for dinner and it was lovely.

I would also say Wooley Grange, Bradford On Avon

Leigh Park Hotel, Bradford On Avon

Went to a wedding at Beechfield House earlier this year and it was really nicely done. Beautiful grounds/house etc. Quite small too so seems quite intimate. They also made their pimms with gin too so was VERY potent......

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 14/11/2005 21:02

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have found somewhere but don't want to post it here for obvious stalker-y reasons! Enid, I am too fat for your ivory jacket I'm sure but thanks. I am shopping for an outfit this weekend, eeek! Either the chocolate brown silky skirt and jacket combo from Kaliko or something velvet, green velvet maybe. Thanks all. I am now considering other girly things like rose petal confetti!
