A bleating wedding/hotel type question, anyone got any bright ideas? Bath or nearby ideally.

We're finally getting married on a Friday in December. We could move it but have booked it and I really just want to get on and be married, we agreed to do it 5 years ago so it's just getting ridiculous. Anyway, I don't know what to do about afterwards. We're only inviting 12 adults and 13 children (2 of them tiny babies less than 2 months old) and therefore a restaurant is out of the question for afterwards (reg office) unless we have the whole place since the 2/3 yos cannot be relied upon to behave and it will be a nightmare. So what should we do? All the decent hotels are fully booked (Bath Spa, Babington, Cotswold House), we could go back to Bristol but that seems a pain. OR we could do tea somewhere in Bath, come back to Bristol, put all the children to bed and then all the adults could go out in the evening in Bristol. Help! Where is there in Bath? Most function rooms are too big, I guess I want somewhere with squishy sofas that will sell us tea and crumpets and Champagne from 3.30pm - 5ish and then we'd leave.

Any advice welcome. I really don't want to cancel it and realise it's a stupid time of year to get married but I really want to do it that day. We could travel up to half an hour out of Bath, ideally in Bristol direction after the ceremony.

%he tea room at the royal Crescent hotel is supposed to be wonderful.
Otherwise, the Francis on queen Square is nice, or the Leigh Park Hotel in Bradford on avon used to be lovely.
Will try and think of more.

littlerach, thanks! Do you know what the Chazz bar above Clarke's restaurant is like? It looks nice but you can't really tell from a website.

The Pump Room has smaller rooms for hire during the day details here . Perhaps they would cater tea for you ?

littlerach · 12/11/2005 14:25

Hmm, not sure where that is. tell me roughly and I will rack my brains!!!
Usually Queen Sq has nice places, and you should get a nice view onto the square. But make sure three's no big event, think lat yr they had an ice rink there, so crowds of people.

I think that when Zoe Ball got married at bath Reg Office they went to Francis after, before going to Babbington.

Cod, I could stalk with you and we could sell pics for vast amounts of cash.

We had our reception at the Bath Priory Hotel in Bath, a lovely comfy hotel that I'm sure could do something for you.

Cod, I have no idea what I will wear, I have no idea of anything really! I did see a lovely silk chocolate brown skirt and jacket in Kaliko the other day so maybe that. Bath Priory private dining manager isn't there until Monday and I want to get this sorted NOW! Well, this weekend at the latest .

Might be a bit far out (?) but recently stayed 1 night at www.stoneaston.co.uk, very nice.

I would suggest Woolley Grange, but presumably you'll already have thought of that. Congratulations though, lovely news

Roobie · 12/11/2005 20:37

You could try Combe Grove Manor in Bath?

Roobie · 12/11/2005 20:39

or (thinking back to all the weddings I have attended in Bath) Lansdown Grove Hotel?

CountessDracula · 12/11/2005 20:43

Weeeellll congratulations to you!

no ideas sorry

Sounds odd but you could also try Bath Spa University at their Newton Park campus (I went there in my final degree year......years ago). A friend of mine had her reception there, lovely georgian house.

lapsedrunner · 12/11/2005 20:48

Also the Queensberry Hotel (near the Assembly Rooms, just off The Circus). I could get carried away here as I lived in 25 The Circus for 2 years as a student a very long time ago (83-85!!!!). So jealous of Bath as your location, long to relocate there.......

I believe the Royal Cresent Hotel in Bath will do afternoon tea:

My friend got married at the Limpley Stoke Hotel which is between Bristol and Bath and I am sure they could cater afternoon tea.
