Would you think better of her for staying with him or leaving?

I think this is what they call a retorical question but if you knew someone who had a boyfriend who had a pregnant ex and she knew he was neglecting the baby after it's birth to be with her but there would be no way for their relationship to work if he didn't. But then it turned out he hadn't actually split up properly with his ex and he was letting the relationship drift apart but she didn't get it and felt mistreated would you think better of the woman you knew if she stayed with her boyfriend or if she left him after she found out the real situation with his ex?

I think I would think better of her and him as well if she stayed with him because that would show they really were in love and they weren't causing harm for no reason.

You're desperately trying to justify staying with a bad man who, in due course, will treat you badly too.

Everyone seems to be disagreeing with me about it being better if they stay together.

Don't you think it would be worse if they split up and he'd hurt his ex and neglected his baby for nothing?

Well, no, obviously. Because by staying with this hypothetical woman, he’s seemingly never going to have a relationship with his baby.

The better thing to do, by far, is focus on being a decent parent and human being in general.

What if once everything's out in the open he's able to arrange things better so he can have a relationship with his baby?

No it would be far worse if his terrible behaviour was “rewarded” by some other woman not only accepting him but justifying it. What he does with you, he’ll do to you.

You really think the child’s mum is going to facilitate a relationship between her child and the man who slow faded on her with a new born while carrying on behind her back?

On what planet do you see a happy ending in all of this. You’d be best served to run, long and far, from this creep. Or maybe you deserve each other.

The baby should be his priority. Not a relationship and then the baby later.

Well firstly, your "friend" is a fuckwit calling herself this blokes girlfriend. He's got a girlfriend, who has his baby. And he is still in that relationship with her. Your "friend" is a side piece. Ew.

Nothings forcing him to be with his girlfriend. He's choosing to be in that relationship. Just cheating on her. What a prince.

He's not leaving the girlfriend. He just wants your "friend" hanging around for an ego boost and a back up when he can't shag his heavily pregnant girlfriend as much as he wants.

AmberPeaches · 04/10/2026 22:17

I’d think the new couple are morally bankrupt and utterly scummy and probably deserve each other. But then everybody concerned sounds about 15….

You know that the divorce rate is >50% and break up rate of lovers is probably higher? When he falls in love with someone else will it be ok for him to treat you like this? Abandon your child?

How old are you OP? Do you have someone in real life to talk to? Your posts suggests you’re quite immature and vulnerable.

Loving someone does not give the right to treat others like shit, especially not a new born. Put yourself in the position of the girlfriend and baby, if a man can ignore a new born then he can treat anyone like shit.

seahorsessky · 04/10/2026 22:25

She should find a man who is single, and has no children (obviously if his wife died, that's different). He shouldn't be having a baby with one woman, and then cheating on her.

I got told that crap when I found out my ex was cheating on me.
It didn't wash then either. 🙄

Wolfiefan · 04/10/2026 22:42

First of all. Clearly not hypothetical.
Second of all. He’s a twat who has behaved appallingly. Run. Run far.

Blankitout · 05/10/2026 07:28

Why would anyone want to be in a relationship with a man who got a woman pregnant and thought it ok.to start another relationship while she was expecting his child?

He can't even arrange where he puts his dick... how's he gonna arrange caring about the child he's so far neglected and also cheated on the child's mother?

Honestly, I think the woman staying with him and justifying (i.e. YOU) is almost worse than him because you're trying to pretend its all OK because you think he loves you. He doesn't love you. And I'm appalled any grown up would love a man so horrible to his own child.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 05/10/2026 14:42

I'd tell your 'friend' to make sure her contraception is cast iron.

mindutopia · 06/10/2026 17:19

I wouldn’t think highly of any of them. What a mess they’ve created.

He’s got a much better chance of this if the woman he cheated with isn’t still on the scene.

LOL, that's not going to happen though is it. These two people have zero emotional intelligence or any integrity. Another child being brought into a shit show who will suffer as the people in their life are self absorbed and think their wants are more important than a child's needs. And before you know it, the new woman (presumably the OP), will get pregnant and, he'll move on and the cycle will start again. I bet he won't be picking up the emotional and financial cost of this either.

It's they're, not their.
Sorry (not) to be pedantic.

how long is he willing to be lit of his child's life so he can be with the current woman?

Jesus!! Are you 16? How pathetically immature to think that way.

Really in love my arse!

pinkyredrose · 08/10/2026 13:50

Op if you stay with his guy and get pregnant and then he starts seeing someone else will you be totally understanding of the fact that they're 'really in love' and think 'ah well I know I'm hurting but they're really in love so that takes precedence over our baby, i forgive them'.

@Impic has your "friend" read any of the replies and reconsidered that she's a gullible dimwit?

Are you 15??

Most 15 year olds have more sense than OP, who sounds more like an extremely immature 12 year old who would annoy her friends with this guff and mooning, silly attitude!
