Would you date a man who paid for sex while married?

Would anyone ever date a man who had paid for prostitutes (behind her back - so cheating) while married to his ex?

I have named changed and been here years.

I wouldn’t touch one with a barge pole tbh. I would make my excuses (politely to remain safe) and never contact him again. I couldn’t find such a man attractive. Maybe I’m judgemental but so be it. I’d feel sick having sex knowing such information. I had a heated debate with a man I know (who said I was judgemental) I said I don’t care.

I wouldn't want to date a man who paid for sex for any reason. Too many young women are forced into prostitution and anyone who buys into it is encouraging it.

MajorSamanthaCarter · 17/09/2026 11:39

No. I've never been asked out by a man who said "by the way I used prostitutes behind my wife's back, is that a problem", though.

Youreallythinkthatwtf · 17/09/2026 11:39

I agree.

I know men lie about such things - our conversation came about due to a friend divorcing after a group went to Amsterdam for a birthday visit. It would be hard for him to lie forever as too many acquaintances know about it.

I wouldn’t date a man who had paid for sex, full stop. If they’re happy to exploit women then they’re not someone I’d want to be with in any capacity.

Youreallythinkthatwtf · 17/09/2026 13:29

Yes I agree

No , I couldn't , it would put me right off them ,
I might be able to get over it if it was a one off thing , but if it was a habitual thing where he paid for prostitutes regularly, then definitely not.

Waitingfordoggo · 17/09/2026 13:34

Same as as PPs, I wouldn’t date or be friends with a man who I knew had paid for sex, whether he was in a relationship at the time or not.

NormasArse · 17/09/2026 13:35

Nope.

Skank (him, not the sex worker).

Sally2791 · 17/09/2026 13:35

No. Gross

Youreallythinkthatwtf · 17/09/2026 13:36

I mean the man now has three paths he could take:

to lie forever more and hope no one tells the new girlfriend.

accept someone who is prepared to date such a man.

stay single and pay for sex.

Why would anyone put themselves in this position? Surely it reduces your dating pool / makes you a liar forever. He clearly thought his mates wouldn’t spill the beans.

Was the "heated debate" man the one who paid for sex or was it a different man? Either way, you're naive if you think any man is going to see much wrong with paying for sex. Of course they'll defend it. Although if this man wasn't the guilty party, I'm surprised he didn't pay lip service just to look like the good guy.

Whattodo127845 · 17/09/2026 13:42

No chance.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 17/09/2026 13:42

No. I was trafficked when I was younger.

Youreallythinkthatwtf · 17/09/2026 13:44

A different man.

And as his soon to be ex wife knows (and they have kids together) how will he lie forever more.

@DreamingOfGeneHunt I am so sorry that happened to you. I hope you have found peace in your life. All the best

I didn't read the post because there's no need to elaborate on this scenario in order to form an opinion about it:

Would you date a man who paid for sex while married?
Hell no.

It was heated as I called the cheat a vile piece of shit (or something similar). I am not particularly naive, maybe that’s why the man didn’t immediately dismiss it but told me his views. Which were something along the lines of ‘some women must be okay with it as 10% or so of men admit to paying for sex’. (A quick Google shows a study in Germany where over 25% men say they have paid over their life time).

I assumed it would disgust most women but I am not all women - so I thought I’d ask on here if women date these creeps?

So far it seems my disgust is not unusual.

I had an amazing first date (went on 3 hours), and I was so excited about this guy. We clicked so much. Then he dropped the bombshell that after his divorce he saw prostitutes (the ones at the thai massage parlours) for months afterwards. Not a flicker of embarrassment/remorse either. I wanted to curl up and die. My fanny zipped up like a tent immediately. I made my excuses (as you never want to give them a reason to kick off), but yeh that was it. No way could I be with a man who would pay. Its rape as far as Im concerned. And those women could have been trafficked/underage - anything. I could never be with someone who did that, or thought it was morally ok.

The cheating thing Id be far more likely to get past if I could understand the circumstances. Sleeping with prostitutes though - never.

OriginalSkang · 17/09/2026 14:53

Fuck no.

Youreallythinkthatwtf · 17/09/2026 15:06

@seanconneryseyebrow eek. Thank god he was honest. I think I would now feel inclined to give another reason for no second date so he keeps telling the truth to future women.
Do you think he was aware that women don’t like this? Or being /not yet had many dates? Very odd.

I wouldn’t ever date a man who cheated on his wife either. No bloke is worth the risk - millions of them out there - nothing they have about them would make me think they were a catch. Leave with dignity and self respect - don’t cheat - it’s about character and honesty. Time is too limited I’d prefer to spend it with a friend than a cheaty man.

I honestly think he thought we were getting on so well (we were) and we were being super honest and really sharing (oversharing really) because the date was so awesome so early on. Id gone on soooo many dates, and this was very rare for me. I went home, stewed on it, talked to friends about it, (one of which said I should let it go as it was a period of time 6 years ago post-divorce) , but ultimately I knew I couldn't. I decided not to tell him why - just lied and said Id made a connection with someone else and wished him well. I felt that him knowing the reason why would make him hide it.

Its such a shame because we really did bond easily. I also considered just being friends but I thought I couldn't even do that. Bullet dodged I feel.

Mumlife321 · 17/09/2026 19:17

Nope

AnnaQuayRules · 17/09/2026 19:17

No

PickledMuffin · 17/09/2026 19:17

no

BansheeOfTheSouth · 17/09/2026 19:22

I definitely wouldn't and I wouldn't date a man who frequented strip clubs either. Regular holidays (or even more than one especially stag nights) in Benidorm is a red flag to me.

However, there are women out there and on here who will. There was a thread a few months ago where a woman found out her fiancé had sex with the stripper iirc (or other sex worker) on his stag do. All it took was for him to buy her a fancy dinner and she still married him.

BEAchDays2 · 17/09/2026 19:38

No, he thinks he can buy consent and doesn’t mind women being trafficked for sex.
