I bought a tracksuit in Primark today from the new Coleen Rooney range. Lovely navy colour, stunning. I only planned to buy the tracksuit top but the trousers were so nice I decided to just buy them too.

I don’t know why I did this - I don’t know what I was thinking. Primark bottoms do not fit me. I am 5ft 11 with an inside leg of 38. They were halfway up my calves.

I get all my bottom halves from Next Tall, Long Tall Sally, ASOS Tall or M&S. But they all cost a fortune! An absolute fortune!

I think I’m just envious of girls who can walk into stores like H&M, Primark, even supermarkets and pick up beautiful trousers/jeans/tracksuits and it not cost the earth.

I’m annoyed with myself for buying the trousers today. I guess I just wanted to feel “normal.” I’ll be returning them tomorrow :(

I wonder what the Goldilocks height is?
Most of my friends are too short or too tall for average clothes. I feel things seem particularly long at the moment, unless I’ve shrunk I don’t recall having such an issue with trousers and jeans as I do now. I buy 3/4 or ankle grazers mostly and they fit me perfectly as normal trousers. Regular length look like this on me…

I am 5ft8 with a 33inch inside leg so I’m too tall for regular but too short for tall. It’s a nightmare!

I don't know if this helps but I've found Yumi jumpsuits come up really long. I'm 5ft 6 and they were trailing along behind my feet, too long by many inches. Might be worth looking at as I think they would be good for someone taller than me.

@summater , It's not if you find that despite requesting a longer bed, you spend your holiday with your other half sleeping diagonally across the bed.

@SwingYaPants , it depends on which three bears' cottage you're at.
I don't shop where clothes run too tall for me.

I've tried buying men's but the shape is wrong, although I highly recommend men's socks.

I've noticed this too! My DD is completely average height amongst her cohort, but tall according to the statistics on average height.

Next and M&S who use the same supply chain as Primark?

@IStillHearTheWaves , I'm not short at all where I live if I go by the height of many other women in my sort of age group, but it's a multi-cultural area.

If I stood next to a group of 16-18 year olds in the next town (not as multi-cultural), I'd probably look quite short.

Wow! I can't get over your inside leg measurement of 38 inches! Your legs must go on forever ! Mine is 27 inches and I frequently have trouble getting jeans and jeggings short enough. A lot of places have 29 inches as their shortest length. However,I do sympathise as my DD is tall, nearly 5 ft 10 in with an inside leg of 35 and she often has problems getting ANY clothes that are long enough. And when you're tall,larger feet go with the territory. She is a size 8, sometimes a 9,and shoe manufacturers have only just woken up to the fact that not all women are a size 7 or less. I bet clothes look great on you though,they always do on taller women!

Yep, I too am 27 inches leg. Jeans are not too bad as i can go for ankle grazers but smart trousers are almost impossible to find.

It's not always as easy as just chopping off a few inches at the ends of trousers. In lots of trousers the length between the crotch and waistband is still too low, for example, so unless you are going for the 2006 baggy trouser look lots of trousers are a no-go. Same with waists on dresses, tops being too long etc.

Benefit to being tall is it's a lot easier to carry weight, whereas putting a pound on is immediately noticeable if you're small. Benefits to being short are tiny airplane/old theatre building seats are just slightly uncomfortable rather than an exercise in contortion.

I just wish that shops would describe clothes sizes accurately (and consistently) to save time and money. A size ten means nothing in terms of length, etc.

It’s really rubbish being short too. I’m 5ft 1in. Nothing fits, anywhere. Even the petite ranges are mostly useless.

I’d prefer not to but as I’m finding it hard to find anywhere that does trousers that fit me.

I know about proportions and shortening clothes (from dressmaking).

I'm within the normal BMI range and a gain or loss of about 3-4 lbs will be noticed.
I guess that if I was overweight or taller it wouldn't.

38 inch inside leg must be very tough to fit. I've known a few men who are 6ft7in and have an inside leg of 36in.

Joe Brown's gives the lengths of all their dresses, which i find helpful.
A petite midi dress is sometimes OK.as a maxi dress for me....but seeing the length means I can measure (one of the very few) dress that fits and compare it

I’ve enjoyed all the comments on this thread I cannot thank you enough for all replying. It’s so comforting to know so many women feel the same regardless of height or leg length. You’re all correct, it is my legs that are the issue. Despite being 5ft11 I can wear any top/tshirt etc from any shop with no issue. And (luckily) I’m only a size 7 in shoes which seems like the last acceptable shoe size for a woman.

I’ve had long legs my whole life. People will often say they are envious but I guarantee it’s brought no privileges to my life. I’d happily give up a few inches.

@loggerlikesweet261 , please don't think like that. They are your legs and they'll be the length they are whether you like them or not so you might as well like them.

I thought I had it hard with a 36" inside length measurement.

Currently I'm mostly wearing chinos from the men's ranges but would love to be able to buy some pretty fashionable trousers occasionally

I’m 5ft 4 (just under) and most trousers are far too long. Dd is 5’8 and is the best height!
Next and M&S aren’t that dear. Or you can buy from Vinted.
I know I could shorten trousers but not all tend themselves to this sort of alteration.

They still choose to use cheaper material. Primark clothing looks cheap. They do great kids pjs though.

The only time I find trousers too long is when heels or over-long trousers/jeans are fashionable.

Some brands will be too long for me, and if you are like me, petite will be too short in the waistband will be on my hip bones.
I'd try Uniqlo and Muji, Gap, M&S, and shops you find in the high street. The higher end brands seem to be longer in the leg. Manyof them offer a regular and short leg length but something like 32" and 300" only cater for the 'average' person

Straight trousers and jeans should hem reasonably well.
