Off out on Friday evening with some colleagues and plan to wear this. Will be going a few bars. Not feeling great about myself at the minute and ChatGPT has told me the dress does nothing for my shape but unfortunately, I just have no waist at the minute due to weight gain (perimenopause 😩) so please no comments about how it does nothing for my figure as maxi dresses are the only thing I feel comfortable in right now 😭
Anyway, what shoes would you wear? Black flat sandals, black heeled sandals, trainers? I have no gold shoes.
Does the outfit look ok overall? I will also be wearing a bracelet that matches the necklace.

I like that dress, not at all witchy, and I also like the idea of chunky sandals or flat black. I’d go with chunky jewellery too in gold. Have a great time!

Ok. I guess you know the area and dress code, but even in London this would be very over dressed for a few bars , I’d put that dress more on a formal dress code.

for a night out at bars with colleagues, I’d do a pair of smart jeans or wide leg trousers , and a silk sleeveless shell top, or a more casual midi dress, a sort of fit and late type

something like these, all one colour. with some thin strapped sandals, a much more casual vibe but still dressed up.

id say wide leg trousers, smart jeans. Silk sleeveless top or a waist coat

Ah ok. Yes I think people do dress up more to go out there. I personally would feel overdressed just to go to a few bars but maybe that’s more of a regional thing. The dress looks fine on you but I would want to dial it down a bit with the shoes. I’m not sure the black sandals are quite right but dressy heeled ones would be a bit ott in my view. Much as it isn’t popular, I do think a toe thong would work

I don't think it is especially dressy at all? It's really simple & could be dressed up or down.

Do you love the dress, or did you just buy it for this night out? If you don't like it a lot & think you'll wear it lots, then return it.

As I said before, your photo is angled so that your body leans away at the bottom, so I'm not sure it gives a true picture? Can you angle your mirror better & post some more pictures, or get someone to take a picture straight on?

The jeans with the shoes are much better. I don’t love the top but it actually looks fine now the shoes have changed.

The scoop neck isn't a very current shape - though it does show off your chest well!! I can't really tell about the jeans & what you have on your feet, because of the photo angle.

Yeah I think it’s always best to look a little relaxed than over dressed, the dress, due to the colour scheme. Is very formal. Like you’re going to a formal party or something

I have this body suit? It is a ribbed typed material and from river island.
Unfortunately all of my dressy up tops do not look right with wide leg jeans! I’ve recently ditched the skinnies 😂

Jeans and that bodysuit is much better but I’d do kitten heel sandals. The other top is nice but a bit plain.

The dress you bought is nice though and if you suit it you could wear it again so don’t feel you have to return it.

Yup that body suit and the jeans, perfect! The last top is nice but v casual, the body suit will go perfect with the jeans and also make it a bit more dressy

The bodysuit looks as if it's too short for you. It looks as if it's had to be stretched and pulled down hard to fasten.

The dress is better but wear with the clompiest sandals you have to tone down the prettiness/dressing upness. No delicate heels or ballet pumps.

I agree, I prefer the dress. Don’t worry about being overdressed. I am never knowingly underdressed and I enjoy it! I don’t think it’s massively dressy if you wear it with sandals. I’d wear that dress for a day out shopping or a night out. If you prefer the jeans wear them but if you love the dress stick with it

What about asking someone who you think is stylish, or one of your friends/colleagues who's also going along?

If I was feeling uncertain & had posted here for advice, I think the conflicting opinions would persuade me to cancel & stay in!!

(Like @TealReader & @PhaedraTwo , I would always veer towards over- rather than underdressed if I wasn't sure what others would be wearing. I'd also go with "punking up" something delicate or pretty, so would go with chunky-ish sandals with the dress.)
