How many children and which sexes did you hope for?

How many kids did you want and what genders? And what did you end up getting?

My dad wanted 5 boys. My mum wanted 1 girl. Got two girls and a boy.

I want a girl and a boy and am TTC my first!

I think I only wanted 2, but ended up with 3. I wanted all girls & fortunately ended up with 3 girls.

I wanted two. Really wanted first to be a girl and she was. Wasn't too bothered about the second but think I was secretly hoping for another DD. I had a second DD and I'm very happy.

@nonomo I wanted all girls too! Then I met this really odd lady who 'saw my future' and she mentioned one of each and I started to imagine it and now want a boy! I don't even believe in psychics!

4 dc, 2 boys, 2 girls. Didn’t want one over the other, otherwise I wouldn’t have had any. I genuinely don’t understand those who ‘want a girl’ or ‘want a boy’ .. what happens if you don’t get what you want 🤨 Or the child finds out later in life that you didn’t want their particular sex 🤨

One daughter and that's what I got.

In an ideal world wanted a girl and boy.

Ended up with 10yrs of TTC and lost 3. No living kids at all but a happy life.

Strong preference for boys and had two. Would have loved a third but we stopped at two as I felt Id pushed my luck and didnt want to risk the third being a DD.

2 girls, as I had a very happy childhood with my sister. We have two girls!!!

2 of each but wanted the boys older as had been brought up in a culture where the oldest DD does all the drudge for the family (didn’t occur to me that I could change that with my own family) - that’s what I have 2 boys then 2 girls it’s lovely.

I wanted 3. Two boys, 1 girl. I've got one of each and decided to stop there.

I didn't want children, I have three (planned and wanted) DC. Never cared about sex, with the eldest I had a slight preference for a girl and DH had a slight preference for a boy but I think that's just it's easier to imagine a child like you. What's between their legs doesn't determine personality.

We have one, a girl, which was our preference. Not having any more, and honestly, I would admit that having a girl has been a part of that decision, amongst many other reasons like my mental health and having had a miscarriage before.

I would've loved to have had 2.....infertility meant zero

Life is good now (took a while tho)

No strong feelings but a slight preference for them to be the same sex, which they were. This seems unusual amongst my friends who all wanted one of each.

But also I was aware this was a foolish speculation as my mum had wanted 4 boys....and got 3 girls 😂😂

I wanted 2 girls and 1 boy and got 2 girls and 2 boys so exactly what I wanted with a bonus

I didn't really care about the sex. I only ever wanted two and I had a preference for them being the same sex.

I ended up having two boys, but in fact I'd have been fine having one of each. Once you've had one, it's hard to imagine having a second of the opposite sex.

I’ve always said I would ideally want two of each. I like the idea of experiencing both and my children all having a same-sex sibling. But I was expecting to end up with all boys because there are loads of boys and very few girls in my husband’s family. I have two children now and was surprised when the second was a little girl. I would still like more, but two is a lot of work so we’re not sure if we’ll have any more or not. Definitely not until the children we have are a bit older.

I always wanted three but then I always envisaged myself having children younger, wanted all girls (I would’ve been a teenager/young adult back when I thought about this imaginary family!

I now have two, one boy and a girl with no plans to have any more and I feel very very lucky. When pregnant with each of them I didn’t care about the sex, just was overwhelmingly ecstatic to be having a baby

Before we had any children, my husband and I blithely talked about how lovely it would be to have two boys and two girls. The reality of two children (one of each sex) born very close together knocked that on the head! We settled very happily on two and have never regretted it for a moment.

Wanted two, had two (one of each), no preference on which sex and didn't find out till birth.

I got exactly what I wanted in the order that I wanted it which was sheer luck, Probably the only bit I’ve ever had in my life however if you’re going to have a luck that’s the area to have it in
