Its a sop to all the the "I hate all smokers, it should be banned" lot. It means sod all.

Hardly anyone under the age of 30 smokes these days as it is unaffordable. As a PP said, anyone who does smoke amongst young people is considered posh and rich as its so expensive.

They all vape, and there is no mention of vapes being under the same limitations. And vapes will still be here, and kids will still buy them.

As I said above all it is doing is appeasing the pearl clutchers, it will do bugger all in real terms. But hey, if you buy into it, go you.

"They all vape, and there is no mention of vapes being under the same limitations. And vapes will still be here, and kids will still buy them."

On June 1st 2025 disposable vapes were made illegal. On October 1st 2026, a new tax of £2.20 per 10ml of vape liquid.

The new bill will restrict packaging and flavours of vapes, further restrict advertising, etc.

The health complications of vaping aren't coming through fully yet. Once the lung damage is fully understood, it's pretty inevitable that vapes will be further restricted. Nictotine is a poison.

You really expect an intelligent response to a comment that contains "are you fat and happen to believe it's an accident"...?
If it matters so much to you, I'm an ex smoker and a social drinker who was overweight following menopause which HRT has helped my body put right- thank you NHS. I just happen to find terms and comments like yours offensive and unnecessary. HRT helped my weight issue, I'm not sure if there's a prescription for belittling people.

Add some sun beds to the mix and you’ll be grand

No thanks. My grandmother died of skin cancer.

I mean I get that it’s theoretically a good thing but it’s also no an ok law to pass imo. It’s a breach of human rights surely. It sets a bad precedence for restriction of freedoms and human rights. It’s actually pretty messed up.

Medical evidence disagrees with you.

I don’t think medical evidence does disagree with me - there is loads of evidence on the dangers of vaping

I doubt this ban will have much effect at all.
Kids manage to do a lot of things they aren't technically old enough to do already, including smoking cigarettes, smoking weed, vaping nicotine vapes, vaping THC vapes, use social media when they are under 13, drink energy drinks, watch films underage at home, play games before they are old enough eg: COD, drinking alcohol.
What's going to be different about this?
All that will happen is that it will move to the black market, and aside from the govt receiving no tax at all from this, black market vapes and cigarettes are often made in unregulated factories. This has it's own risks, as well as potentially funding organised crime.
History shows that outright banning products quite often makes that product even more attractive to teenagers because it becomes an ultimate symbol of rebellion.
For these reasons alone, I don't support the ban, because the only difference it will make will not be noticed by your average person.
