Doing weights at home- what to buy and where from

I've recently started doing a weights class and I'm loving it. I'd like to do some at home as well but it seems so expensive to get set up.

For the stuff I do in my class I use an adjustable bench, 8kg kettlebell, 2 x dumbbells at 4kg, 6kg, 8kg, 10kg. To buy all that would wipe me out- I never knew it cost so much!

I'd love some advice for what would be best to focus on and where to shop. I know you can get adjustable sets but the way I've been doing it, you do eg a set of upright rows with one weight and then a set of snatches with a different weight, then rest then go again. So adding weights on and taking them off isn't going to work.

I also struggle with some of the neoprene weights with very thick middles as I have small hands.

Thanks for any advice.

Are you able to get a gym membership instead? The 24hr chain gyms are great. With weights you don't want to be limiting yourself to what you have at home, progression will be difficult especially if you want to go heavy (hip thrusts etc).

Personally I find access to a range of dumb bells, barbells etc really useful.

I do a lot of my training at home. I got a set of adjustable dumbells (nuo bells) which go up to 20kg and then I’ve got magnets I can add to get them up to 24. They were from Strength shop. Then from Mira fit I got a 15kg barbell, bumper plates which go up to 115kg, fractional plates and a squat rack. It’s cost a fair bit but I need to be able to train in the house so to me it was worth it.
