Is there an app that will give you a gym routine?

Just that really!

I briefly had a PT but due ££ and him changing from gym to online only, we parted ways. I was gutted, I was enjoying lifting weights and getting stronger after years of just doing running/yoga/cardio type workouts.

I have downloaded the Alice Liveing app, which is 'fine' but I'm not entirely convinced.

I'd love to have an app that tells me what to do, and I can log my progress with etc. I don't mind paying, as long as it's obviously not megabucks!

Thanks in advance :)

Peloton app is quite good for strength (about £15 a month but you can get 60/90 day free passes)
Joe wicks has one, there's les mills and Apple fitness and I think Nike fitness too.
There are lots of other apps if you search the app/Google play store.

i use strongher app - if you google them, they are a gym in east london but have an app subscription. i do weights based programme and it's £10 a week i think. tells you what to do, explains exercises, allows you to log weight and reps and cheers you on etc. also monthly calls (which i always miss) and nutrition advice if that is also your bag.

i also use les mills but that is classes/workouts rather than a week-by-week programme that builds on previous weeks. i am a les mills fan and their stretching stuff and stationary bike stuff is good as are boxing classes but body pump not so much any more (used to love it but now prefer proper weights programme so it was a gateway for me).

Hi @alternating i thought Joes was just hiit? (And he’s also blooming annoying.)

i will check out apple fitness, had briefly looked bought thought it was more ‘pick a workout’ rather than a programme you can log results on. I have spent a lot of time googling but they all just seem a bit on demand/pick your own exercises.

@Fretfulagain i shall check out les mills I thought it was just cardio stuff, thank you! But stronger sounds like the best, I’m off to investigate!

it’s not the best site but have a look around and the online offer is there - you have to download an app but i have found it works well. Good luck!

PS Les Mills usually does a free intro so you can try it out but beware some people are weirdly attached - kids used to tease me about it being a cult under lockdown (but it was a lifesaver when gyms closed - you can put it on tv via Roku and use earbuds which was v handy)

I have a friend who raves about Lucy Mountain’s Nobs (no bullshit) app, and I think that has gym and home workout options. I haven’t used the app but really like her on Instagram.

@Fretfulagain these look great and both have free trials 💪🏼

@HDready I hadn’t heard of her but I am now following!

thanks for these recommendations everyone 😊

I follow someone on insta called ‘this woman lifts’ who has a programme which you follow and gets progressively harder, so you make progress

My PT uses this but I’m not sure if you can access/pay for it as an individual. It’s absolutely fantastic for building routines and tracking progress.
