Should I focus more on weights?

I'm 43 and was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 18 months ago. Prior to this I'd been working out loads and gaining weight at a rate of knots. Then when diagnosed, I felt completely and utterly cheesed off, had a pity party...and put some more weight on.Grin
Anyway, my thyroid levels seem to have leveled and I've been doing mostly cardio the last couple of months but will little results. I'm doing intermittent fasting and have given up chocolate, alcohol, and crisps.
I've been hearing from lots of other people with Thyroid problems that they've had greater success with weight loss with doing more weight training and just the minimum of cardio. When I had my first child, I did weight training times a week and did no cardio whatsoever (I didn't have the energy) and the weight dropped off really quickly.

Do you think that I am just one of those people who responds better to weight training?

Weight training is essential for anyone, whether trying to lose weight or not so I would say yes you should do more. As we age our muscles a will disintegrate and we end up with the bingo wings etc so it's something you should be doing at least twice a week+ for sure.

And yes it helps with weight loss because as you build muscle - muscle burns calorie at rest where's cardio doesn't so the more muscle you have the more calories you burn post workout.

Weight lifting - even heavy - is just so much easier than loads & loads of cardio.

It's been a revelation taking up lifting heavy in my late middle age. My body just loves it!
