Becoming "thick"

Hello, hopefully you can help :)

I'm 9 months pp and about two months ago I started a new strength /lifting routine. Now I know my genes have a lot to do with it but after an initial period of toning/losing inches my legs and butt have become "thicker". I'm fairly short and I think it make some look shorter. My body is starting to look like the type that is "made in the gym" which is fine and all, but that wasn't the result I was going for. I wanted toned but slim. I have visible abs (which is great! Mostly obliques) . So what's the answer more cardio? I have the limitation that it has to be at home and with no equipment

Congratulations on new baby and new fitness regime.

The answer to you question might just lie in your kitchen and what you eat. Yes genes will determine to a certain extent how you develop, but you can gain muscle and fat at the same time.

Look at there explanation

Thanks for the reply! After consulting with people who follow exactly the same workouts we came to the conclusion that I should be doing more Pilates. I haven't gained any weight (I've lost some) and trying some other clothes that I hadn't tried in a month they're definitely looser. It's just the "bubble butt" and looking like Jennifer Lopez that I still don't like. (All my clothes are tighter around my butt).

Three years ago, I was on the same diet and was able to to get a body I much preferred. But I was as running every day.

I’m no expert but I’d agree that Pilates or barre-style exercises might help give that long lean look.

Although personally I think you should go for it as your butt sounds awesome.

I’ve only just realised this post is weeks old but has been bumped by some MLM spammer Hmm

I know some skinny guys who deadlift insane amounts for their size. Most of them keep the reps low and don't overeat. They're significantly stronger than guys much bigger. I believe it's the difference between sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar hypertrophy.
