Psychic mediums. How Real are they?

MrsM1717 · 17/07/2020 01:04

I have had 2 readings and both were an expensive waste of time. I have attended many group readings as well and never had anything, I went to one group reading unaware that I was 6 months pregnant and it wasn’t picked up. Since then I lost all faith.
I’m not lost or looking for anything, Thankfully I haven’t been through anything traumatic. I just want to know if it’s real. I'm a very spiritual person so it makes sense for me to believe but I just can't based on my experience.
I have read many readings on here and from the comments people seem genuine. So if anyone could give me a reading on here I would really appreciate it.
TIA

Not real but some vulnerable people may feel comforted by positive 'readings'.

Personally I would never bother with the rubbish but each to their own.

I know someone who claims to be a psychic medium however she has never predicted anything correctly for me and when I have heard her at "work" on a psychic hotline type thing, it seemed very much to me that she was offering practical motherly advice to desperately sad and lonely people who didn't have any one else to turn to.

That being said, I once had an experience with a gypsy fortune teller at a local fair who made my hair stand on end with the accuracy of her reading.

I have also had experiences with people who belonged to a spiritual church, friends of friends. In all instances they told me they had a message for me, delivered that message and went on their way. every time it happened I was having some sort of dilemma and the message went a long way towards resolving the dilemma. On every occasion, no one but me knew I was having that dilemma.

In short, I do believe that there are people who have means of knowing things, but the genuine people generally do not try to make money from it.

I believe some people are born with the ability. Far too many try to learn it from buying a pack of cards. It's an ability that not many would want to have if they genuinely had it.

I think it is real, my mam could read, I myself also have the power to see things, mine are dreams and also I see things inside my thoughts but it has to be in that frame of mind, i get very fatigued with it and sometimes i get stuck fighting with my thoughts which is very difficult to manage. I wish i wasnt a psychic because it is so tiring.

Magic1231 · 10/12/2020 13:49

@madisonmontgomery Do you remember the name of this psychic? Smile

Sitdowncupoftea · 10/12/2020 16:59

There are so many fake ones out there. If they don't give you names dates and proof they are fake.

Strange that none of these 'psychics' were warning us in 2019 that we were heading for a pandemic in 2020 ...

WitchesSpelleas · 10/12/2020 17:17

She named a great uncle and his son and said that we should contact them. The son had a heart attack shortly after.

If I were your relative in 'the spirit world' and knew your Great Uncle's son was going to have a heart attack - and then, a miraculous opportunity arose to communicate through a medium, what message do you think I'd send?

  1. "Contact Great Uncle John."
  2. "Great Uncle John's son is going to have a heart attack on 26th April unless you intervene. Phone him now and tell him to make an urgent doctor's appointment."
Magic1231 · 10/12/2020 17:37

Yeah, I think the vast majority are con artists using cold reading, however I think theres a handful that fo have a real gift... it's just finding them!xxx

Unfortunately it does not work like that. Not all phychics are frauds. Some are used by the police but the police don't admit it.
Gwenhwyfar · 10/12/2020 17:56

"my Nan recognised the names of her grandparents.
She named a great uncle and his son and said that we should contact them. The son had a heart attack shortly after."

At the time of your grandparents' grandparents there wasn't a huge diversity of names. And why would your great great gp come and talk to you?

Lilac95 · 10/12/2020 18:01

I believe both arguments. There’s some major con artists but I’ve had two readings in the last 2 years and both have picked up my grandfather who passed away, could tell me how he died, his mannerism, things in my life like my health and relationship. They even named him. Both times they couldn’t have known, the first medium had no idea who I was, a friend booked for 3 people and that’s all he knew and the second whilst he could see it social media would’ve had no idea of my grandfather, I have never ever posted about him and keep myself quite private online. I’ve run into a few that are playing the game, give vague answers etc but the two mentioned above were amazing and gave me some comfort

An astrologer did though. To be fair, there's a pandemic around every 100 years so it's something that can be guessed as well.

What kinds of things do you see Batman?
Gwenhwyfar · 10/12/2020 18:04

"1. "Contact Great Uncle John."

Telling someone they're about to have a heart attack could actually cause a heart attack. They probably have to be careful around giving bad news.

Gwenhwyfar · 10/12/2020 18:05

"Some are used by the police but the police don't admit it."

It's well known that the police sometimes use psychics, but it's usually when they've exhausted everything else isn't it?

Who were they? I can see no harm in naming them if you're saying good things.
Magic1231 · 10/12/2020 18:14

Yes! I find it utterly fascinating hearing the stories of police that uses psychics, not that you hear too many xxx

Lilac95 · 10/12/2020 21:28

@Gwenhwyfar one was a local guy, I don’t want to name him as it’s would give away my location and I’m not comfortable with this. He’s been doing private and group readings in his spare time for around 20 years. And the second was via Instagram a guy call Adam psychic medium. Some info from him was generic but again very specific about my grandfather and personal details

Gwenhwyfar · 10/12/2020 21:32

Thanks Lilac

Hunnihun2 · 10/12/2020 21:35

I think they are real but they are very hard to come by and there’s more rubbish ones than good. I went to see a lady once years ago and she gave me some advice and it rung true... lost contact with her I would love to see her again.

Comeonbrainwork · 11/12/2020 20:13

I cant tell you the lottery numbers thats just not how it works, I speak to my mam who has passed over and she answers, it's strange because their is your thoughts and my mam actual answering also, it comes natural to me to have a conversation with her, I can see things going to happen and also I can read people too which sounds kinda strange but I guess that is part of my gift, it's so differcult to explain how or why, I'm sorry i couldn't explain in more detail, it's just how I can do it, I suppose everyone does it differently I guess.

SkySports · 22/12/2020 09:25

I wish people could predict the future....it would have been nice to find put about covid and this awful year....
Sadly they all appear to be so very vague so pretty useless really.
Obviously if someone just wants to hear dead loved ones are at peace and watching over them then pass over your £35 for a 'reading' Shock

MimiDaisy11 · 14/01/2021 09:11

You need to have the mindset that's willing to dismiss anything that doesn't apply to you and only remember the things that the medium got right. That's how you get at a place where you believe. It's good that even though you want to believe you've still been able to see from your own experiences that there's nothing there.

My sister was really into this and she was similar to you. She had lots of readings where it was so generic that even she could see that it could apply to anyone, or they just got things wrong. And simple things which are 50:50 like the sex of an unborn baby they got wrong.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 14/01/2021 09:14

They arent real. They are scum. They prey on people who are bereaved for money.

What they do is called "cold reading"- look it up. I can do it. If you have a knack for it, its easy. You can tell SOOO much about a person from their behaviour, tiny cues and the way they present themselves. People also give themselves away with micro expressions. I can cold read people easily.
